We are seeking an Application Support Engineer to provide L2 technical support for our suite of OTC Derivative and FX products. This role requires strong problem-solving and investigative skills to resolve issues and will involve collaboration with various teams and direct interaction with clients.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide L2 technical support to internal and external customers for OTC Derivative products and FX post-trade confirmation processing.
- Apply strong technical skills, business knowledge, investigative techniques, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in a timely and high-quality manner.
- Liaise with other team members, Product, Development, and infrastructure teams for 3rd line escalation.
- Provide technical advisory to Product, business, and clients for solution delivery.
- Work directly with clients to understand and resolve issues and liaise with delivery teams for new platform releases.
- Handle escalations, identify, and communicate technical resolutions in English.
- Be flexible regarding hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Skills Required
- University graduate or equivalent with a background in computer science.
- Ability to read and trace Java, C++, and/or scripting languages.
- Understanding of PAAS and implementation with OpenShift.
- Experience or high motivation to pick up cloud implementation on AWS.
- Experience in handling client issues and expectation management.
- Experience in Application Support, software development, and deployment (SDLC).
- Good Unix skills, including scripting experience.
- Experience with XML and XSLT.
- Experience with databases including SQL scripting, preferably Oracle.
- Good understanding of messaging platforms and protocols like FIX and IBM MQ.
- Understanding of networking principles and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience in encrypted connectivity channels utilizing SSL and TLS.
- Experience of working in the Finance Industry.
- Knowledge of Financial OTC Derivative and FX products.
- Good understanding of Application Support processes.
- Awareness of Derivatives products and post-trade processing is desirable.
- Knowledge of financial protocols like FIX, FPmL, and TOF.
- Ability to understand Application architecture and effectively navigate to problem areas.
- Ability to apply analytic methodology, such as trending and distribution, to get insight from application data for troubleshooting.
