Role Overview
The
Application Operations Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous operation of enterprise applications delivered as managed services across treasury and capital markets environments. This position focuses on monitoring, incident resolution, environment stability, and operational excellence for missioncritical financial software used by banks, corporates, and financial institutions.
You will work closely with product support, implementation teams, and client IT stakeholders to maintain high service availability and comply with strict SLAs common in regulated financial markets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Monitoring
- Monitor application health, performance, and integrations in production and preproduction environments.
- Handle incidents, alerts, and service requests, ensuring accurate rootcause analysis and timely resolution.
- Perform daily operational checks, log analysis, and proactive system maintenance.
Application Management
- Deploy patches, releases, and configuration updates using established changemanagement processes.
- Manage application environments, ensuring consistency across Dev/Test/Prod.
- Troubleshoot applicationlevel issues related to APIs, middleware, job schedulers, and data flows.
Client Support & Service Delivery
- Serve as a technical point of contact for managed service clients.
- Provide highquality communication on incident status, planned maintenance, and operational changes.
- Support onboarding of new clients and environments, ensuring smooth transition to BAU operations.
Process & Compliance
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of environments, procedures, and runbooks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements relevant to treasury and capital market operations (e.g., SOX, GDPR, security frameworks).
- Contribute to continual service improvement initiatives and operational automation.
Collaboration
- Work closely with development, QA, cloud infrastructure, and product support teams.
- Engage with implementation teams during project handover and golive phases.
- Participate in oncall rotations or shift schedules as required.
Technical Skills
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting enterprise applications (preferably in financial services, treasury, trading, risk, or capital markets solutions).
- Strong understanding of application architecture:
- Web servers, APIs, microservices
- Batch processing, job schedulers
- Messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, MQ)
- Handson experience with:
- Linux/Unix (strong) and/or Windows server environments
- SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL)
- Scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell)
- Monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana, etc.)
Cloud & DevOps (preferred)
- Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes).
Financial Domain Expertise (a strong advantage)
- Understanding of:
- Treasury operations (cash management, payments, liquidity)
- Capital markets workflows (trading, pricing, risk, settlements)
- Financial instruments (FX, MM, IRS, bonds, derivatives)
- Experience supporting applications such as treasury management systems (TMS), trading platforms, risk engines, or payment hubs is a plus.

Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- ITIL certification (Foundation or higher) preferred.
- Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS) are a plus.
