Job Description:

We are seeking an Application Engineer to join our product engineering teams, focusing on building customer-facing features and applications that directly serve financial advisors and their clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful product features while developing expertise in wealth management technology. You'll implement features independently, participate in architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with product managers and designers to deliver impactful solutions.

This role is based in Hyderabad and follows a hybrid work model. You will collaborate with colleagues across India and the United States, with reasonable working-hour overlap when needed for team ceremonies, planning, and delivery. This is an excellent change to be part of building a new Global Capability Center and shaping an engineering and product culture based on deep partnership and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Implementation

• Implement features independently within established architecture patterns
• Handle complex bug fixes and participate in incident remediation and root cause analysis
• Write comprehensive tests (unit, integration) and maintain high code quality standards
• Diagnose and resolve non-trivial bugs in production applications
• Use secure coding practices and design standards with data privacy best practices

Technical Design & Architecture

• Contribute to technical specifications and design documents for application features
• Implement solutions for complex problems within the wealth management domain
• Identify edge cases and potential issues during feature development
• Evaluate and recommend technical approaches for application-level challenges
• Create reusable patterns and components for application development

Process & Execution

• Participate actively in planning and estimation for feature development
• Manage personal workload and priorities effectively
• Follow engineering standards consistently and participate actively in code reviews
• Identify and address process inefficiencies in application development
• Demonstrate ownership of application codebases and fight complexity through simple solutions

Collaboration & Communication

• Work effectively with product, design, quality, and information security teams
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Participate actively in requirement discussions with product managers
• Provide constructive feedback in code reviews and mentor junior engineers
• Demo application features and functionalities effectively to stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C#, Python)
• Experience with web application frameworks and technologies (React, Node.js, .NET, etc.)
• Solid understanding of database design and query optimization
• Experience with RESTful APIs and modern application architecture patterns
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies
• Understanding of secure coding practices and data privacy requirements
• Familiarity with wealth management or financial services domains preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid, globally distributed engineering organization and communicate across technical and business teams

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• 3-6 years of software engineering experience with focus on application development
• Experience building and maintaining customer-facing web applications
• Track record of successfully delivering features end-to-end
• Experience with agile development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
