Job Purpose
To carry out advanced structural calculations, design verifications, and provide efficient structural solutions, particularly for transportable and offshore buildings. The role includes supporting multiple projects, reviewing structural designs for compliance, and delivering engineering excellence through collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Structural Engineering & Technical Design
- Perform detailed structural analysis and design calculations including blast and offshore load cases.
- Propose and develop efficient, compliant, and constructible structural schemes.
- Utilize tools such as STAAD Pro, SpaceGASS, SACS, and FEM software (e.g., Strand7).
- Prepare structural reports and design documentation for internal reviews and client submissions.
- Review supplier and subcontractor drawings for alignment with project specifications and standards.
- Apply international standards including ISO, offshore design standards, and local building codes.
2. Project Engineering & Management
- Define and manage project scope, schedules, and key deliverables from contract acceptance to completion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams: HVAC, Electrical, Tendering, F&G, and Testing.
- Interface regularly with clients and suppliers through technical reviews, teleconferences, and site updates.
- Develop and maintain project dashboards, timelines, and progress reports.
- Manage project documentation, including RFIs, NOIs, CRs, and variation claims.
- Ensure all engineering changes are reviewed and incorporated in line with scope updates.
3. Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Act as a point of contact for structural design queries between Schneider Electric and external partners.
- Engage with internal leadership teams and ensure timely information flow across departments.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, providing timely updates and responses.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Schneider's quality (ISO 9001), health and safety (ISO 18000), and environmental (ISO 14000) standards.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Promote and enforce safety, ergonomic, and environmental best practices during project execution.
5. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Identify project risks, deviations, and scope creep early, proposing mitigation strategies.
- Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and process improvement workshops.
- Recommend technical improvements and contribute to Schneider's innovation roadmap.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in structural steel design, transportable structures, and ideally blast-resistant structures.
- Proficiency in structural design software: STAAD Pro, SACS, SpaceGASS, Strand 7 or other FEM tools.
- Strong understanding of structural load conditions including offshore and dynamic loads.
- Familiarity with building codes and offshore regulations.
- Capable of interpreting and reviewing technical specifications and drawings.
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, timelines, and engineering deliverables.
