Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented API Tester with experience in the Payments domain to validate and ensure the quality of APIs used in financial transactions. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with API testing tools, SQL, and Linux environments, along with a solid understanding of payment workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute test cases for REST/SOAP APIs.
- Validate API responses, status codes, headers, and payloads.
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing of payment systems.
- Test payment flows such as authorization, settlement, refunds, and reversals.
- Work with tools like Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
- Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data integrity.
- Perform testing in Linux/Unix environments and execute shell commands.
- Analyze logs and troubleshoot issues across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams.
- Ensure compliance with security standards in payment systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in API testing.
- Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP web services.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Good knowledge of SQL (joins, queries, data validation).
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Understanding of JSON and XML formats.
- Familiarity with version control tools like Git.
- Knowledge of test management tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Payments domain (UPI, cards, wallets, gateways).
- Knowledge of ISO 8583 message format or payment protocols.
- Exposure to automation tools (e.g., RestAssured, Selenium).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Basic scripting knowledge (Shell/Python).
Key Payment Domain Knowledge
- Payment lifecycle: Authorization → Clearing → Settlement
- Familiarity with systems like:
- Payment gateways
- Acquiring/issuing banks
- Fraud detection systems
- Experience with real-time payment systems like UPI is a plus
