We are seeking a skilled API Gateway Specialist with hands-on expertise in Google Apigee to design, implement, and manage API gateway solutions across our enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have 45 years of experience in API lifecycle management, API security, and performance optimization using Apigee, along with a strong understanding of RESTful services, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build API proxies, shared flows, and policies using Google Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid).
- Apply and manage API security policies such as OAuth2.0, JWT validation, API key validation, and rate limiting.
- Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient APIs.
- Manage the API catalog, versioning, and documentation using developer portals.
- Monitor API traffic and performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks or issues.
- Integrate Apigee with backend systems (REST/SOAP services, microservices, databases, etc.).
- Automate API deployment through CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, or similar.
- Maintain proper documentation of proxy flows, access rules, and usage metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 45 years of experience in API Management and Gateway configuration, with at least 2 years on Google Apigee.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Apigee Edge / Apigee X / Apigee Hybrid
- RESTful APIs, JSON, XML
- JavaScript, Python, or Node.js for scripting and transformations
- In-depth understanding of OAuth2, JWT, SAML, and API authentication/authorization methods.
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Git, Maven, or similar for automated API deployments.
- Familiarity with API governance, analytics, and monitoring best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred (Good to Have):
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apigee X configuration.
- Knowledge of other gateways (e.g., Kong, MuleSoft, WSO2).
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and service mesh.
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices and API compliance/audit processes.
- Google Cloud Certification or Apigee Certification.
