The Amherst Residential platform provides a comprehensive suite of services to facilitate the ownership of single-family rental properties, including property management services, asset-level financing, and asset management services. With a deep understanding of and proprietary analytics on the single-family home and mortgage markets, Amherst's platform combines a unique combination of national scale with local market knowledge and execution.

The Asset Management team oversees the investment strategyand asset management for Amherst's

$15bn real estate portfolio and is looking for an Underwriting Analyst who will work in a fast-paced, quantitatively driven environment, and is comfortable managing and streamlining various high impact projects and decisions across the portfolio. They will be working on the buy-side acquisitions platform in the single-family residential real estate sector and be involved in identifying, underwriting, due diligence and concession negotiation management across Amherst's new acquisition opportunities The Analyst will also play a pivotal role in the ongoing revenue management pricing and strategy for ourexisting portfolio of 45,000+ homes.

Job Description (Primary Responsibilities)

  • Perform financial analysis and build financial models for strategic acquisition opportunities
  • Optimize portfolio performance by identifying rental assets that should be marked for sale
  • Develop detailed and comprehensive presentations on market trends and strategic insights for senior management to support investment decisions across the organization
  • Underwrite and monitor the rental market to evaluate existing portfolio performance and support revenue management strategies across various regions within Amherst's 45,000+ homes portfolio
  • Collaborate with internal teams and operating partners to drive strategic initiatives aimed at improving margins and returns

Desired Skills / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and MBA/CFA with financial markets understanding a plus
  • Experience: 1-4 years of prior experience in Financial Services and/or Real Estate firm preferred. Highly analytical mindset.
  • Technical: Advanced skills in SQL, Tableau, MS Office Excel and PowerPoint. Prior experience in using Yardi, Power BI preferred.
  • Proven high performer with a demonstrated track record of academic and/or professional excellence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while delivering high-quality outputs
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced team environment
