About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled AI Team Lead to drive the development of intelligent systems for unstructured healthcare document processing. In this role, you will lead a high-performing AI/ML team to build, deploy, and optimize deep learning models across OCR, NLP, medical coding, risk adjustment, and document classification. You will be responsible for architecting end-to-end pipelines, ensuring secure and scalable delivery on cloud platforms, and partnering closely with clinical SMEs and cross-functional teams. This position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver impactful AI solutions at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and build end-to-end AI/ML pipelines for healthcare document intelligence.

Lead the development of custom deep learning models for OCR, NLP, medical coding, risk adjustment, and document classification.

Drive innovation by applying LLMs and Generative AI techniques to healthcare data challenges.

Ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance deployment of models on Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.

Collaborate with clinical SMEs, engineering teams, product managers, and business stakeholders.

Own technical decision-making, delivery timelines, code quality, and model performance benchmarks.

Integrate OCR engines and document image processing pipelines with AI models.

Guide the team on modern ML Ops workflows using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation.

Promote best practices, conduct reviews, and mentor team members on AI/ML methodologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

10+ years of experience in AI/ML, with a strong background in deep learning.

Hands-on expertise with:

  • PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras
  • Transformer models like BERT, BioBERT, ClinicalBERT, GPT family, MedPaLM (or ability to adapt to similar models)
  • Strong experience in Computer Vision for document image analysis, segmentation, and OCR.
  • Solid understanding of LLMs, Generative AI techniques, and prompt engineering.
  • Proficiency with Azure ML (preferred) and experience deploying models using Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Strong grasp of ML Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based AI workflows.
  • Familiarity with clinical ontologies and healthcare data standards.
  • Strong analytical, architectural, and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with proven experience in team leadership.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree required (minimum 15 years of fulltime education).

Nice to Have

Deep understanding of ICD10/11 coding frameworks and risk adjustment models.

Experience working with FHIR, HL7, EHR/EMR systems.

Knowledge of clinical workflows and medical terminology.

Familiarity with LLaMA, Scikitlearn, NumPy, Pandas.

Relevant certifications in AI/ML or cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft, Google, DeepLearning.AI).

Exposure to performance optimization, scalable ML design, and advanced debugging techniques.
