Job Purpose

1. To ensure smooth operations of Remelt/Recycling, Scalper, Soaking Pit, HM, Cold mills, Annealing furnaces, Finishing Line & Tension Leveller Operations by coordinating with respective Shift incharges, Section Heads and HOD's if required.

2. Keeps the HOD and POET leader informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters to minimize the downtimes or minimize the impact on quality and other efficiencies like energy ,recovery, fuel efficiency etc

3.Coordinate with mechanical, Electrical shift incharges and prioritize the machines as per the situation and coordinate to minimize the downtimes and utilize the resources to minimse the downtimes.
4.Coordinates with shift incharges for issuing or approving the work permit wherever it is required across the plant as per the approving authority protocol.
5.Devlops revisits SOPS/SMPS required for Anything related t safety, equipment related or quality related or for ease of operations .

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: The role of the Shift coordinator is to improve safety, availability of the equipment and quality of the product , by planning timely
-
- through planning, and coordination to maximize the productivity of the plant.

Core Responsibilities:

1.To plan, coordinate smooth operations across the plant
2.To coordinate with shift incharges for ensuring manpower at all the machines as per requirement and Minimize the OT by using the multi functioning principle.
3. To coordinate activities with mechanical, electrical, operations and quality shift in-charges to have smooth operations
4. To address quality related decisions in the shift to minimize the rejection and timely decision
5. To adhere to the plan and maximize the productivity and meeting the customer requirements by proper planning with shift incharges for the shift operations
6.To communicate to the concerned HOD's,UH and security in case of emergencies especially in cold mill fires and Molten metal spillage.
7. To ensure auto datalogging of all the machines wherever systems are available
8.Analysis of problems in the machines & quality related issues to the extent possible with shift people and area in- charges using various QC tools and take necessary actions
9.To focus on few of the key efficiencies like Remelt fuel efficiency , Soaking power productivity, Annealing TAT , Cold mill TAT and Speeds , TL TAT and speeds by following the SOP and any new suggestions to improve on these parameters by coordinating with shift incharges and operators.
9.Coordiante for the scrap movement in the shifts timely to maximize the scrap consumption.
10.Coordination for issues related to IOT platform with IT or Automation teams.

Job Challenges:1.To ensure the efficiencies are maintained and keep improving over a period of time across the plant.
2.Prioritisation of maintenance jobs in the shift based on the situation by coordinating with Shift incharges , section heads and concerned HOD's
3.To achieve the recovery targets by close observation and coordination with shift incharges and operators and with concerned section heads as well
4.To achieve the production numbers in the shift for the machines by maintaining the safety and quality to meet the P&B targets.

-Within the operational shift incharges and operators in the shift
-With mechanical & electrical department for resources planning like manpower, spares etc.
-With Production planning dept for following the curomer priorities and maximizing theproductivity
-With quality team for release of coils and any quality related concerns in the shift
-With warehouse team for receiving of the coils for declaring the production and coordination for toller related activities.
-With Safety officer for daily work permits, HIRA and JSA
-With security teams in case of emergency.
-With IT team for datalogging or network related issues .
-with Stores team in case of odd hours material issue from stores.
External Collaboration
-With Tollers
-With Spool manufacturing vendors, Roll manufacturing vendors ,Paper spool suppliers

Further challenges include to maximise productivity by maintaining safety and quality norms to meet the P&B targets.

.To motivate employees and Ensuring the right skill for the operators and maximize the productivity.
.Identify the training needs and facilitate for training as per the requirement
