Job Description

Job Purpose

To repair and maintenance of machinery at mines for production and to save the cost for achieving target.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: Through captive mining entire production at Renukoot cannot be met and hence it doesn't meet the requirements. Private Bauxite is located at Bimarla area. Getting such Bauxite with a right-economic mix from these suppliers requires continuous and persistent chasing, hard-nosed bargaining and managing logistic requirements in difficult terrains.

In the present political context and with existence of Bimarla division for the last 40 years or so, the suppliers/ contractors have become fixed and no new party easily comes to the area. Hence cost control becomes difficult.

Because of total economy of Bimarla region depending on Hindalco and existence of militant and several political groups negotiation becomes difficult and is a big challenge.
Compliance with all Legal requirements in the face of existing practices being embedded, change in systems becomes difficult.

Hindalco, the largest producer of Aluminum in the country needs 18.5 Lakh MTPA of normal Bauxite the raw material, Out of which Bimarla Mines division caters about 60% of requirement. The position requires main thrust in mining, logistics (road & rail) with focus on quality & cost. Competent performer must be able to formulate & implement suitable strategy for mining covering aspects right from lease, exploration, land acquisition & mining, and logistics arrangements with emphasis on quality & cost.

Hindalco held seven Mining Leases in the Jharkhand state to extract Bauxite for processing at Renukoot plant. Mining operation are carried under the statutory provisions of M.M.D.R. Act 1957, Mines Act 1952 which mandate to maintain & update mining plan. Mines Division, Bimarla producing about seven Lacs M.T. Bauxite per year for the above held Mining areas.

Land within Mining Lease are belong to tribal under control of Schedule Area Regulation 1969 and Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act 1908.

Job Challenges:

1. To make of maintenance system based on condition monitoring.
2. To make a proper co-ordination amongst all siding and mines pertaining to manpower and spares.
3. To regularize lubricant oil system & H.S.D. consumption.
4. To regularize consumption of tyres.
