Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Product Manager will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of the Fertilizers portfolio across India, The role will drive product strategy, positioning, market penetration, and profitability while acting as a strategic bridge between R&D, marketing, and zonal sales teams to ensure consistent national execution under a product-based hybrid sales structure.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management:

Own the complete lifecycle of assigned fertilizer products launch, growth, maturity, and rationalization

Define product vision, positioning, and value propositions aligned with market and crop needs

Identify strategic / priority products for focused national push

Prepare annual and quarterly product business plans with clear growth targets

Market Intelligence & Opportunity Mapping:

Analyze crop-wise, region-wise, and segment-wise market potential across India

Track competitive products, pricing, claims, and positioning

Identify gaps and recommend new product development or formulation improvements

Use field feedback and data to refine product strategies

Sales Enablement & Zonal Coordination:

Work closely with Zonal Heads, Branch Managers, and field teams for product execution

Translate product strategy into clear execution plans for zones and branches

Support zones with product-wise targets, dealer activation plans, and farmer engagement strategies

Participate in joint reviews with leadership to track fertilizer product performance

Pricing, Schemes & Promotion:

Develop pricing strategies based on cost, competition, and value delivery

Design and roll out product-specific schemes, promotions, and seasonal campaigns

Ensure pricing discipline and margin protection across regions

Monitor scheme effectiveness and course-correct when required

Performance Tracking & Reporting:

Monitor product-wise sales, growth, penetration, and adoption metrics

Track performance against strategic product KPIs

Present insights, dashboards, and recommendations to senior management

Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decisions

Qualifications:

MBA / M.Sc. (Agriculture / Horticulture) / M.Tech. (Agriculture or Allied Sciences)

Strong academic background in agriculture, crop sciences, or agri-inputs

Experience:

Minimum 10+ years of relevant industry experience

Proven track record in Agri-Product Management, Sales Enablement, or Technical Marketing

Experience with PAN India markets across multiple agro-climatic zones

Prior exposure to fertilizers, Experience working with large sales teams and distribution ecosystems

Key Interfaces:

Internal: R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance

External: Dealers, Distributors, Key Farmers, Channel Partners, Industry Experts
