Job Description:

The Advanced Numerical Simulation team is a part of the Structural Analysis group in the Structures department and plays a key role across the lifecycle (Design, Certification and Inservice) of current and future aircraft programmes by developing and deploying state of the art and credible advanced numerical structural simulations.

Job scope (core activities):

  • Assessing the static and dynamic strengths using Linear / Non Linear Finite Element Analysis to evaluate the structural integrity of the aircraft for the gamut of loads aircrafts are subjected to

  • Detect unforeseen structural design issues and recommend structural design modifications during the aircraft development

  • Support certification of the aircrafts by derisking certification tests

  • Carrying out Root Cause Analysis and support resolving inservice issues

  • Use simulations to optimize manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Develop new simulation methods to make simulations more credible

  • Automating simulation lifecycle processes to reduce manual efforts and simulation timelines

  • Explore digitization techniques such as AI / ML to augment simulations

Required Domain Expertise:

  • Strong engineering fundamentals including knowledge of Engineering mechanics, Strength of materials and Stress analysis of metallic and composite structures

  • Strong understanding of the different types of structural Nonlinearities

  • Strong understanding and hands on knowledge of all the phases of FE simulations

  • Knowledge of scripting languages

  • Awareness of advanced technologies such as AI and ML

  • Very good analytical and reasoning skills

  • Strong aptitude for problem solving

  • Broad technology exposure

Experience: 3 to 7 years

Area:

  • Engineering / Technical / Advanced Structural Numerical Simulations

Education:

  • B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical / Aerospace)

  • M.E. / M.Tech (Product design & Manufacturing / Machine design / Allied streams)

Soft skills:

  • Passion to make a difference to the product through advanced structural simulations

  • Ability to work independently & in a transnational setting

  • Ability to gel well with colleagues and to be balanced in approach

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility & adaptability
