Job Description

Key Experience Requirements:

  • 1012 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable (AP), Should be from shipping industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end AP operations, including team leadership and performance optimization.
  • Proven ability to:
  • Build and lead a high-performing AP team, fostering accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Standardize AP processes across multiple locations to ensure scalability and operational excellence.
  • Ensure internal control compliance to minimize financial risks, penalties, or losses.
  • Manage vendor payments within agreed credit terms and ensure Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) targets are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee and verify all payments for compliance with company policy and local statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and analyse AP reports, including actuals, forecasts, budgets, and cost trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during internal/external audits, statutory filings, and group-level financial reporting.
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives within the AP function.
  • Ensure timely remittances to principals and adherence to all contractual obligations.
  • Partner with senior leadership, providing actionable financial insights and recommendations.
  • Lead tax, compliance, and regulatory activities related to Accounts Payable.
  • Support management through financial analysis, dashboards, and presentations that inform decision-making.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • SAP (FI Module) and AP automation tools; SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Domain Expertise:
  • In-depth understanding of reconciliation, taxation, and financial controls.
  • Familiarity with shipping industry finance processes, including agent/principal remittances.
  • Leadership & Communication:
  • Strong stakeholder management and vendor relationship skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, process-driven, and improvement-focused mindset.
  • Open for Night shift with work from office pattern.

Qualifications & Education

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Commerce, Accountancy, or Finance.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost Accountant qualification preferred.
