Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Accountant specializing in General Ledger (GL) and Record-to-Report (R2R) functions within Property Accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from preparing monthly reports and reconciliations to managing billing activities and supporting month-end close processes. This role requires a professional who is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and can effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and furnish monthly reports and reconciliations, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Manage all billing activities, including the calculation of management fees and invoice creation.
  • Assist the supervisor with month-end processes and financial reporting.
  • Perform cash management functions, initiate and post journal entries, and resolve issues as needed.
  • Analyze expenses and prepare accruals, with a clear understanding of how to calculate and remit sales tax.
  • Review and support the accounts payable workflow, including expense reimbursements.
  • Perform Accounts Receivable aging, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Book and analyze fixed assets, depreciation, and prepaid expenses for properties.
  • Maintain the month-end close checklist and perform real-time updates.
  • Monitor and communicate for early identification of escalations in critical activities to reduce risks.
  • Perform monthly general ledger to sub-ledger balance sheet account reconciliations and support general ledger account analysis.
  • Prepare audit-related requests.
  • Formulate detailed process maps and documentation (SOPs).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Skills:
  • Excellent critical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Macros, and Power BI is an added advantage.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a relevant field; a Master's (M.Com, MBA in Finance) is a plus.
  • Accounting or Finance degree is a must, and accounting certifications are desired.
  • Experience with ERPs such as Yardi, Entrata, and Real Page is required.
