JOB DESCRIPTION :
Payroll accountant is responsible for timely and accurate accounting/reporting of payroll transactions including salaries, bonus, other benefits, accruals taxes, and other deductions in addition to timely preparation and submission of reconciliations.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare accurate journal entries based on the work papers prepared/supporting documents received and business analysis performed and record them within the stipulated time frame. Perform monthly reconciliations within specified time frame
Works as the first point of contact for the in-country payroll
Ensures the organization's payroll is completed in a timely and accurate manner
Accurately creating, collating, maintaining, processing, and validating employee payroll data and records by gathering calculating monitoring, and inputting data as necessary
Manages the escalation process for any issues with payroll and with the chosen outsourced provider
Adheres to company policies and procedures and complies with relevant laws
Ensures payroll controls are in place and are adhered to
Monitors and response to incoming calls, e-mails and messages to ensure prompt service for all
Takes the lead with complex queries from employees, finance functions, outsourced payroll providers, and third-party suppliers in a professional, timely, and competent manner
Verifying data for payroll by checking carefully the information received and raising queries when required
Responsible for always keeping all payroll data safe and confidential while adhering to local rules for data protection
Produces and supplies regular and on-demand payroll reports as and when requested to do so
Provide development opportunities for yourself and others in the payroll team and provide coaching sessions where required
Takes the lead on payroll year-end responsibilities and any other Ad-hoc processes or projects
Takes the lead in escalating payroll queries to the next level
Participate and provide relevant details for the annual internal and external audit projects
Participates/takes the lead in payroll-related projects
Providing support and communications to HRMs and participating in HR meetings when required to do so.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
. Graduate/Postgraduate with minimum 4 years of rich experience in payroll accounting/reporting/reconciliations

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP, IFRS) and corporate accounting policies and procedures is necessary. This is generally acquired through education process, with practical application gained through work experience.
This position also requires knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance legislation and the ability to develop and apply what is required from SOX guidelines. This is generally acquired through training sessions and practical application gained through work experience.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are essential due to the degree of documentation and interaction with various departments, business leaders and internal and external auditors.
Associate will need to develop strong analytical skills and will need to be well organized, able to coordinate, prioritize, handle multiple tasks and show initiative and desire to learn.
