Role Type: Individual Contributor – Enterprise Architecture & Delivery Oversight
Role Overview
We are seeking an Enterprise Power BI Architect to define, govern, and enable BI architecture across BI Transformation programs and multiple accounts. This role goes beyond dashboards and reports—it focuses on designing scalable semantic models, defining enterprise standards, enabling delivery teams, and ensuring performance, security, and long-term maintainability of Power BI solutions.
You will work closely with client-facing business units, account leadership, data engineering teams, and client stakeholders to shape BI transformation strategies and ensure reporting solutions align with business priorities and enterprise-scale architecture.
This is a hands-on architecture role, not a purely managerial position.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture, Design & Transformation Enablement
- Define and govern enterprise-level Power BI transformation architecture standards and best practices
- Partner with solution architects to drive BI transformation solutioning across programs and accounts
- Lead migration assessments and planning, including report inventory rationalization, modernization strategies, and conversion roadmaps
- Provide architectural guidance and design patterns for paginated and interactive Power BI analytics; build complex or reference implementations where architectural validation is required
- Design scalable semantic models, reporting frameworks, and reusable datasets
- Establish reusable data models, KPI frameworks, visualization standards, development practices, and accessibility requirements
- Define and implement data security strategies, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and access governance
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across datasets, models, and enterprise workspaces
Strategy & Governance
- Lead BI transformation planning and execution phases with clients, account teams, and delivery teams
- Define and enforce BI governance standards, including naming conventions, version control, workspace strategy, and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to align data warehousing, lakehouse, and reporting layer architectures
- Evaluate existing BI landscapes and recommend architecture, tooling, and usage improvements
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and data governance requirements
Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead solution architecture discussions with business stakeholders and client leadership
- Translate business strategy into enterprise reporting and analytics roadmaps
- Clearly articulate trade-offs, risks, scalability considerations, and remediation approaches
- Support account teams in solution proposals, estimations, and client presentations
Delivery Enablement & Technical Leadership
- Guide Tech Leads and developers on advanced data modeling, DAX optimization, and performance challenges
- Conduct architecture and design reviews to ensure adherence to standards
- Enable DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and monitoring practices for Power BI
- Mentor BI teams to elevate technical maturity and architectural thinking
Required Skills & Experience
- 9+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Data Analytics
- 5+ years of deep, hands-on Power BI experience
- Expert-level proficiency in: Advanced data modeling (star schema, composite models, large datasets) DAX optimization and performance tuning Power Query transformation best practices Row-Level Security (RLS) and governance
- Strong SQL expertise and solid understanding of data warehousing architectures
- Experience working with enterprise data platforms (Azure, SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric preferred)
- Experience defining and implementing DevOps / deployment pipelines for Power BI
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and architectural articulation skills
Good to Have
- Project experience migrating SAP BusinessObjects, Cognos, WebFocus, Pentaho, or similar platforms to Power BI
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Exposure to Data Lakes and Lakehouse architectures
- Experience with automation and monitoring frameworks
- Experience working in multi-account or global delivery environments
