Position Overview

The IT Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the IT infrastructure, systems, security, and applications within the pharmaceutical environment. This role requires a professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance (like FDA, GxP, and 21 CFR Part 11). The IT Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless, compliant IT operations that support manufacturing, R&D, quality, regulatory, and commercial functions.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Own)

1. Team Management & Operational Excellence

·       Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT support engineers and administrators, fostering a culture of ownership and high-performance, aligned with the Career Development Framework (CDF).

·       Overseer the IT service desk operations and Tier 1/Tier 2 support engineers, ensuring all service requests and incidents are resolved promptly according to established SLAs.

·       Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and champion the professional development of the IT operations team.

·       Optimize and automate recurring IT processes to drive operational efficiency and reliability.

2. Strategic Planning & Leadership

·       Develop and implement IT strategies that are tightly aligned with business objectives and the company's digital transformation roadmap.

·       Act as a key liaison between the IT team and critical business stakeholders (Manufacturing, R&D, Quality) to ensure IT solutions meet their needs.

·       Lead digital modernization projects across departments.

3. Infrastructure & Systems Management

·       Manage and maintain the enterprise-wide IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, data centers, and cloud platforms.

·       Oversee the implementation and maintenance of critical pharma-specific applications (e.g., LIMS, MES, ERP).

·       Ensure high uptime, performance, and availability of all mission-critical systems.

·       Manage network servers and technology tools; upgrade systems with new releases and models.

4. Compliance & Security

·       Enforce strict compliance with GxP, FDA regulations, ISO standards, and data integrity principles across all systems.

·       Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols, conduct risk assessments, and maintain disaster recovery plans.

·        Oversee validation and documentation in line with 21 CFR Part 11 and CSV (Computer System Validation) requirements.

5. Project Management

·       Plan, execute, and deliver IT projects (implementations, upgrades, integrations) within defined scope, time, and budget.

·       Coordinate effectively with external vendors and internal teams for software and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications & Experience (What you should bring)

Education

·       Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

·       Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISA, or CISSP are highly preferred.

Experience

·       6+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 3 years in a hands-on managerial role.

·       Essential experience working in a regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences

Environment.

·       Proven experience in managing ERP, LIMS, MES, and validated systems.

Technical Skills

·       Strong hands-on understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, virtualization, networking, Windows OS).

·       Expert knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and data integrity guidelines.

·       Experience with enterprise security tools, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

·        Familiarity with tools like ManageEngine, SCCM, Patch management, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
