About the Role
Toppersnotes is gearing up to launch an exciting new range of STEM educational toys, and we are looking for a highly skilled 3D Designer who can bring our product ideas to life.
This role is not for 3D animatorswe need a designer with strong product visualization, 3D modelling, and manual/instruction design capabilities.
You will work closely with the product, R&D, and branding teams to conceptualize, model, and design toy components, create detailed assembly instructions, and prepare production-ready files.
Key Responsibilities:
3D Product Modelling & Design
- Create accurate, detailed 3D models of STEM toys from scratch (mechanical, modular, DIY kits, robotics, etc.).
- Develop functional, manufacturable, and child-safe product designs with proper tolerances.
- Convert concept sketches into final 3D CAD models.
- Prepare exploded views, assembly diagrams, and component layouts.
Instruction Manual Design
- Design step-by-step instruction manuals for children aged 614.
- Create clear 3D illustrations showing assembly, wiring, and usage.
- Work with content and product teams to ensure child-friendly explanations.
- Prepare print-ready and digital-ready manual files.
Collaboration & Production Support
- Coordinate with manufacturers for feasibility and prototyping.
- Refine models based on prototype feedback.
- Create renders for packaging, website, and marketing needs (non-animated).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 36 years of experience in 3D modelling for products, toys, engineering parts, or industrial design.
- Strong proficiency in any of the following software:
- SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Blender, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD tools.
- Ability to create high-quality orthographic views, exploded views, and assembly drawings.
- Experience designing DIY kits, mechanical toys, robotics parts, or educational products is a plus.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, 3D printing, laser cutting).
- Strong graphic sense for layouting instruction manuals (Illustrator/Photoshop/CorelDRAW).
- Excellent visualization and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of children's product safety standards.
- Experience with packaging design/rendering.
- Familiarity with STEM education products or tinkering labs.
