Job Purpose
To work as an important link between Marketing Function (for all domestic markets and some international markets like Nepal & Bangladesh) and Logistics Department so as to facilitate movement of goods in the most cost effective manner and on OTIF (On-time, In-Full) principle.
Job Context & Major Challenges
1. With the launch of multiple products, the movement of goods has become a challenging task in the Unit, more-so in the context of higher no. of SKUs. The challenge gets multiplied with the dynamics and uncertainties of competitive market conditions wherein, the logistics & dispatch plans are not static in a given period.
2. The uncertainties arising out of external factors (like change in fuel prices, local logistical advantages of competitors in specific markets, troughs & crests in monthly off-take of Stockists linked to ongoing market-demand, road transporters strike, impact of seasonality on availability of adequate means of transportation etc.) lead to daily fine-tuning of dispatch plan and coordination with various internal customers/ external agencies so that the Monthly/ Quarterly/ Yearly Sales target are met.
3. Also, the coordination task with relevant All-India offices of CONCOR (tasks like rake-planning & transhipment planning, control of financial liabilities arising out of damages/ ground-rents/ penalties/ demurrages, maintaining cordial relations with key-decision-makers and staff in CONCOR & Indian Railways etc.), demands dedicated focus and highly effective coordination & interpersonal skills.Key Challenges
1. Uncertain market conditions impacting the variables of transportation/ movement of goods.
2. To coordinate with All-India marketing team and ensure maintenance of Optimum Stock Level in all the Depots, to avoid a stock-out position, even in the most uncertain situations.
3. Manage On-Time, In-Full delivery of all the SKU (Stock-keeping Units) with a constant review & control of - dispatch plan, transit-time in shipment of goods, damages, withheld material at Container Yards etc.
4. Effective coordination with all the internal/ external touch-points so as to maintain high level of customer satisfaction, especially on the parameter of OTIF Delivery.
5. To streamline daily dispatch plan in a manner that it doesnt affect the monthly/ quarterly/ yearly sales target of Marketing-function.
6. To assist Marketing Head in preparing near-accurate monthly sales budget of the entire product-mix so that the production-planning & logistics-planning are well aligned and deviations are minimized.

Study the historic trends of Sales (Month-wise, Product-wise, Sales Area-wise, State-wise, Zone-wise & All-India for BW as well as competitors). 2. Design formats to obtain the Sales Figure from Regional teams, during Planning & Budgeting exercise. 3. Coordinate with Regional teams to obtain their respective plans and compile the same to obtain All-India picture. 4. Assist Marketing Strategy Cell and Functional Head-Marketing to streamline the forecasted Sales Plan, during Planning & Budgeting exercise, (in accordance with the Revenue Driver Tree), so that the same can be converted into a systematic Dispatch & Production schedule for a given FY. |
| KRA2 | COORDINATION FOR DISPATCH PLANNING | 1. Coordinate with regional teams to review, monitor and control the Dispatch Plan (on daily weekly monthly basis). 2. Update the Sales-Area/ State/ Region-wise dispatch plan and submit the same through structured reports, to Functional Head-Marketing. In other words, assist Functional Head (Marketing) in Reviewing and Controlling the Targets on a daily basis, set for a given FY. 3. Based on the daily review with FH (Mktg.), prepare a status report, as per the amendments finalized in discussion with FH. 4. Provide timely information about the amendments & status reports to all concerned Regional/ State/ Sales Area Heads, to ensure that the Dispatch Planning is in tandem with the decisions. |
| KRA3 | CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | CUSTOMER SATISFACTION 1. Ensure timely dispatch of material, as per Customers plan, through daily follow-up & coordination with Logistics (Kharia) 2. In pro-active coordination with the concerned sales team, ensure that the Optimum Stock Level in the Depots (Godowns) is maintained so that the Customer at these locations doesnt face a stock-out position. 3. To interact with dis-satisfied Customers (Stockists & Industrial buyers), in the event of delays in delivery of material. Accordingly, handle their grudges/ complaints in a manner that such situation crisis does not have a bearing on their relationship with the Organistaion. 4. Serve as an important central link between Logistics (Kharia) and Regional teams to facilitate the OTIF (On-time, In-Full) delivery of goods. |
| KRA4 | COORDINATION WITH CONTAINER CORPORATION OF INDIA (CONCOR) | 1. Coordinate with all relevant offices of CONCOR, on All-India basis, for timely rake planning and trans-shipment planning on daily basis. 2. Maintain cordial relationship with key-decision-makers and staff in CONCOR to control financial liabilities arising out of damages, ground-rents, penalties/ demurrages, withheld containers etc. 3. Facilitate the negotiations between Logistics (Kharia) and CONCOR, thus contributing in cost-effective transportation of goods. 4. Ensure timely placement of rakes at Works-Kharia. |
| KRA5 | INTERFACE BETWEEN CMO & LOGISTICS (KHARIA) | INTERFACE BETWEEN CMO & LOGISTICS (KHARIA) 1. Prepare and submit All-India Order transmission plan to Logistics (Kharia) on daily/ weekly basis. 2. Based on competitors dispatch information received from Logistic (Kharia) and relevant State Heads, prepare reports related to State-wise dispatches of all Brands of White Cement, on monthly basis. These reports are used by all Departments for analysis of Industry Growth, BW Growth and Market-share of all the brands. 3. Facilitate meetings and execution of specific tasks with CONCOR, based on directions/ requirements of Logistics (Kharia). 4. Facilitate information-based interaction between FH-Marketing and Logistics (Kharia), through various informative reports (generated as per the requirements of FH-marketing). Such reports provide a basis for taking decisions related to Sales/ dispatches/ logistics related affairs and also serve as an informative base for various analytical tasks carried-out by marketing Strategy Cell (during Planning & Budgeting Exercise and Quarterly reviews). |
