Job Requirements:

Role: Senior. zLinux, K8s, LinuxOne Infra & Software Engineer

- A highly experienced Kubernetes and Linux Systems Administrator to support and enhance our enterprise Kubernetes and Linux KVM infrastructure.

- This role focuses on OpenShift Kubernetes and Red Hat Linux.

- Experience with IBM LinuxONE systems is a strong plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer and maintain OpenShift Kubernetes clusters using OCP console, command line, automation, and Advanced Cluster Manager

- Administer and maintain Linux systems, primarily Red Hat distributions.

- Automate deployments and configurations using Ansible and shell scripting.

- Configure and maintain GPFS (IBM Spectrum Scale) for scalable storage.

- Implement and manage data protection solutions across Linux environments.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and infrastructure issues.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network engineers and developers.

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 10 years of Linux system administration experience.

- Minimum 5 years of Kubernetes cluster administration experience.

- Expertise in installing Linux OS (especially Red Hat) using automated tools.

- Proficiency in shell scripting, Ansible, and at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Go).

- Strong understanding of SELinux configuration and Linux firewall management.

- Experience with software package management and dependency resolution.

- Familiarity with open-source software principles and tools.

- Networking knowledge including bonding and macvtap.

- Proficiency in LVM for storage management and dm-crypt/LUKS2 for disk encryption.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

- Senior zLinux, Kubernetes, and Linux Infrastructure Engineer responsible for administration, automation, and support of enterprise OpenShift Kubernetes clusters and Red Hat Linux systems.

- Requires 10+ years of Linux administration and 5+ years of Kubernetes experience, with expertise in cluster operations, Ansible and shell scripting automation, GPFS storage management, data protection, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.

- Strong knowledge of SELinux, networking, LVM, encryption, package management, and container technologies is essential.

- Collaborates with development and network teams to ensure performance, security, and reliability.

Preferred Skills:

- Red Hat certification or equivalent experience.

- Experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes-based platforms.

- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM.

- Exposure to high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and using automation solutions like Ansible

- Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, Golang, Rust, C, Java, etc.

- Familiarity with containerization technology such as building docker images

Bonus:

- IBM LinuxONE Expertise

- Understanding of s390x architecture and LinuxONE hardware.

- Experience with LPARs, OSAs, FCP cards, RoCE cards, and Crypto Express cards.

- Familiarity with HMCs in DPM mode, Brocade SAN zoning, and chpids vs. pchids.
