Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with experience in Java and Python development and strong exposure to IBM z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will work on building, integrating, and securing enterprise applications, leveraging z/OS Connect, modern DevOps tools, and z/OS security frameworks. This role involves close collaboration with distributed and mainframe teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java and Python
- Build and expose RESTful APIs using IBM z/OS Connect to integrate mainframe services with distributed systems
- Develop, test, and debug applications using IBM z/OS Developer tools and/or Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
- Manage source code, branching, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
- Implement and support z/OS security controls, including authentication, authorization, and access management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment
- Troubleshoot application, integration, and security issues across distributed and mainframe platforms
- Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and adherence to coding standards
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python
- Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS environments
- Experience with IBM z/OS Connect for API enablement
- Proficiency with GitLab for version control and CI/CD
- Experience using z/OS Developer tools and/or Visual Studio Code (VS Code) for mainframe development
- Solid understanding of z/OS security concepts, including RACF (or equivalent), user access, and permissions
- Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and web services integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Expectations
- Experience with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret
- Exposure to DevOps practices in hybrid mainframe environments
- Knowledge of JCL, COBOL, CICS, or DB2
- Experience with API security, certificates, and encryption on z/OS
- Familiarity with monitoring and performance tuning on z/OS
