Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Enforce and maintain EHS / WSH rules, regulations and safe work practices at project sites to prevent accidents, injuries, environmental pollution and occupational health risks.
  • Develop, review and update EHS policies, procedures, risk assessments, Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and other relevant EHS documentation.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, identify unsafe conditions and practices, recommend appropriate control measures and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Monitor and improve workplace safety and health performance in accordance with company policies, project requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented for high-risk construction activities.
  • Provide EHS guidance and support to project teams, supervisors, workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and conduct EHS induction, toolbox meetings, safety briefings and training programmes for employees and subcontractors.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences, identify root causes and recommend preventive and corrective measures.
  • Monitor the implementation of EHS requirements by subcontractors and ensure compliance with project and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of EHS records, inspection reports, training records, incident reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Coordinate and follow up on statutory inspections, testing and certification of relevant equipment, machinery and workplace safety requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including emergency response procedures, drills and incident reporting.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and relevant authorities on EHS / WSH matters when required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuously improve EHS standards across project sites.
  • Ensure construction activities, particularly sewerage and underground works, are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum Specialist Diploma or equivalent, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Possess relevant WSH qualifications / certifications required for the role.
  • Familiar with Singapore workplace safety and health legislation, environmental regulations and other relevant statutory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of construction site safety practices, risk assessment, Safe Work Procedures and control measures.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience as a WSHO / EHS professional in the construction industry.
  • Experience in sewerage, drainage, underground infrastructure or PUB projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience in managing safety requirements for high-risk construction activities such as excavation, confined space work, lifting operations and underground works will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with workers, supervisors, project teams, subcontractors and clients.
  • Good observation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, responsible and committed to maintaining high standards of workplace safety, health and environmental protection.
  • Able to work independently and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
