Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Workshop activities Operations Planner to join our team in Iraq. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating workshop customer orders and operational activities, including the preparation of route cards, purchase requisitions, production schedules, and coordination with subcontractors and service providers. The role will oversee the workflow from order handover through completion and delivery, ensuring efficient resource utilization, on-time execution, and compliance with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate workshop activities from sales order handover through completion and delivery.
- Prepare route cards and purchase requisitions (PRs) for job-related materials and services.
- Develop and maintain detailed project and production schedules to support workshop operations.
- Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely execution of work.
- Monitor progress against schedules and proactively address planning constraints and operational bottlenecks.
- Modify and improve processes to enhance productivity and meet customer specifications.
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment in resolving planning and scheduling issues.
- Develop and maintain detailed project network plans, including the integration of subcontractor activities and work plans.
- Manage resource planning and scheduling to ensure balanced workshop workloads and efficient utilization of manpower and equipment.
- Provide regular internal and external progress reports on project and workshop activities.
- Monitor and maintain planning systems, updating production schedules for management review and reporting.
- Track and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
- Follow and interpret written and verbal work instructions accurately.
- Monitor production progress and ensure all tasks are completed according to schedule.
- Ensure production and delivery schedules are aligned with customer requirements and agreed timelines.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate operational reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in rotating equipment repair and maintenance operations, including pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, and associated workshop processes, is highly desirable.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in workshop planning, production planning, operations planning, or a similar role within the Oil & Gas, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Services, or Rotating Equipment Repair sector
- Proven experience coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Strong understanding of planning principles, production scheduling, and workflow management.
- Good understanding of machining, welding, assembly, inspection, testing, and rotating equipment repair workshop operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Experience using planning and scheduling software applications.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across different departments and external parties.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Local Iraqi-based candidates required to work in Rumaila, Iraq.
