Primary Purpose:
The Workday Sr. HRIS Analyst Security & Data Management is responsible for designing, configuring, and governing Workday security across the tenant. Under the direction of the Director Global HR Technology, this role ensures secure, compliant, and highquality system access while enabling business functionality and an optimized user experience. The analyst partners closely with HRIS, HR, Internal Audit, and external auditors to maintain strong controls, safeguard data, and support operational needs. The role also contributes to broader data governance and Workday UX optimization efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
Security (Primary Focus) 70%
- Serve as a key resource and subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Security.
- Design, configure, and maintain Workday user security, rolebased permissions, and tenant security infrastructure.
- Configure and manage Workday security roles, security groups, and domain/business process access.
- Collaborate with Workday Reporting Analyst to ensure secure data access aligned with business reporting needs.
- Support security enablement and access design for new Workday features, modules, and SKUs.
- Administer worker security maintenance for hires, terminations, transfers, and organizational changes.
- Conduct recurring security audits and lead biannual user access reviews.
- Partner with internal audit and cyber security to ensure compliance with ITGC, SOC1, and SOX; serve as a control support owner.
- Support external audit activities including evidence gathering and process walkthroughs.
- Configure and maintain audit reports.
- Create and maintain security frameworks, standards, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve access issues, escalations, and securityrelated incidents.
- Supports biannual release / enhance processes to review functionality, impact analysis, configuration and testing.
Data Management & Governance 20%
- Support organizational Workday data strategy including structure, quality, standards, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Manage EIBs, bulk data loads, data corrections, and data transformation activities.
- Lead data conversion initiatives for mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
- Perform data integrity audits, reconciliations, and error remediation.
- Develop and maintain data purging frameworks aligned with privacy regulations and record retention policies.
- Partner with internal compliance teams to ensure Workday's capabilities and configuration match legislative, regulatory, and internal standards, and requirements.
User Experience (UX) 10%
- Optimize Workday user experience through homepage configuration, cards, hubs, navigation design, and personalization.
- Lead feature adoption efforts related to UX improvements from Workday releases or continuous improvement / transformation projects.
- Support tenantwide translation management and ongoing upkeep of multilingual configurations.
Education
Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience
Overall experience of 8+ years with at least 3 years experience with Workday supporting Security and Data Management. Additional functional areas a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of HR processes, procedures, and policies to translate business requirements into the system.
- Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Strong understanding of Workday security models, domain and business process security.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) and retention requirements.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data accuracy and data lifecycle management.
- Experienced in managing and leading audit processes and internal controls, with strong understanding of audit reporting practices.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and facilitate teams to identify and implement solutions to problems.
