SeniorTechnical Analyst – with Workday, Reporting and ServiceNow experience,

Please find the role description below. They would work in Transitions to support Extend and Restructure design tool projects.

Role Purpose

The Technical Engineering Analyst will play a key role in designing and documenting the end‑to‑end functional and technical processes needed to implement Workday Extend components and organisational health reporting. The individual will translate complex business requirements into clear technical documentation, data specifications, and process flows that support the development of org design validation, insights dashboards, and workforce reporting.

This role acts as a bridge between Business (OWD, HR, Restructure), Workday Engineering, Data teams, and Architecture.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process & Workflow Documentation (Workday Extend)

  • Analyse existing organisational design workflows, approval processes, and data flows across Tech, HR, and OWD.
  • Document as‑is and to‑be process flows using industry-standard modelling tools
  • Map end-to-end processes for:
  • Structure creation and updates
  • Validation rules (spans, layers, grade compression)
  • Approvals and governance (ServiceNow + Workday Extend)
  • Data movement into dashboards or insights engines
  • Collaborate with domain SMEs to validate logic, edge cases, and exception flows.

2. Data Requirements & Reporting Specification

  • Define detailed data models, data definitions, and attributes required for organisational health reporting.
  • Identify data sources: Workday HCM, Worker profiles, Position data, Skills/Beamery, Job Families, Finance structures.
  • Document data lineage from Workday → OD Tool → Insights/Dashboards.
  • Specify reporting requirements for:
  • Spans & layers
  • Grade metrics
  • Demographic impacts
  • Job family / profile analysis
  • Skills demand & supply (where defined)
  • Work closely with Data Architects and Engineers to validate feasibility and data availability.

3. Technical Design Support & Critical Thinking

  • Evaluate alternative technical options for building organisation health reports and recommend the best customer-centric approach.
  • Partner with Workday Extend engineers to ensure the feasibility of interaction models.
  • Challenge ambiguous or incomplete requirements and propose improvements.
  • Support development teams by clarifying logic, validating payload structures, and documenting integration contracts.

4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work across:
  • OWD
  • Workday Engineering
  • ServiceNow Engineering
  • Data & Analytics
  • Architecture
  • Restructure teams
  • Facilitate clarifications, workshops, and sign-off sessions.
  • Communicate technical constraints and decisions in a clear, structured way that business stakeholders can understand.

Essential Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM data structures, especially workers, positions, job families, and org structures.
  • Exposure to Workday Extend, EIB, REST APIs, or HRIS system integration concepts.
  • Data analysis and modelling skills (SQL, Excel, JSON payload review, data mapping).
  • Experience documenting low-level data requirements for dashboards or analytics.
  • Familiarity with organisation design concepts: spans, layers, grade compression, job families.

Business Analysis Skills

  • Ability to document detailed end-to-end process flows and use cases.
  • Strong requirements elicitation: workshops, interviews, gap analysis.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and create clear documentation packs.

Critical Thinking & Design

  • Ability to question assumptions, identify missing requirements, and propose pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple systems and dependencies.

Collaboration Skills

  • Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capability to partner with engineers, architects, and business SMEs.
  • Experience working in agile squads or cross-functional delivery teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with organisation health reporting or people analytics.
  • Knowledge of Beamery or skills frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow workflow design.
  • Previous work with OD or Workforce Planning teams.
  • Understanding of validation rules for org design.

Typical Background

  • Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or HRIS Analyst.
