About the Role:

We at Verdantas, looking for a skilled Workday Payroll Architect to join our team.

This role will be responsible for leading the design, configuration, and optimization of compensation programs in Workday, translating business strategies into scalable solutions while ensuring seamless integration, data accuracy, and compliance across global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Owns the architecture and configuration for the payroll ecosystem
  • Create and maintain payroll eligibility rules, payroll calculations, earning and deduction codes, pay components, and pay component groups for multiple companies
  • Maintain payroll system configuration to process garnishments, pretax/post‑tax deductions, retro pay, off‑cycle payrolls, bonuses, and year‑end processing
  • Create and validate federal, state, and local tax configurations ensuring legal compliance
  • Partner with functional teams including Benefits, Absence, Compensation, and HCM to drive efficient and accurate payroll processing
  • Partner with Workday integration developers on all integrations impacting payroll
  • Develop custom reports including but not limited to Standard, Advanced, and Matix reports
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll efficiency, accuracy, automation, and employee experience
  • Complete payroll inputs and payroll EIBs
  • Lead new configuration testing and deployment into our production tenant
  • Lead regression testing for new Workday releases
  • Complete data audits to ensure data integrity in all aspects of payroll
  • Maintain and improve payroll dashboards to empower the payroll processing team
  • Assist HCM Manager with preparing change management plans and creating guides for end users
  • Test AI features such as Workday's Payroll Agent and assist with overall innovation enhancements

Education and Experience:

  • 4-8 years of Workday Payroll configuration experience
  • Experience with US Payroll taxes
  • Understanding of touchpoints between Benefits, Absence, HCM, and Payroll
  • Workday Payroll Certification
  • Familiarity with consulting business model and understanding of timesheet posting sequences
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage payroll practices
