Job title: Workday Finance Team Lead

Location: Gurugram

Type: FTE

Job Profile Summary

The Workday Finance Team Lead is responsible for the implementation, enhancement, and day-to-day operations of the company's Workday Financials domain, including Core Financials, Procurement, Expenses, Assets, Accounting Center, Prism Analytics, and security controls. This role partners closely with Finance, IT, HR, and business leadership to ensure the Workday ecosystem supports organizational goals, drives efficiency, and maintains data integrity, compliance, and security. The ideal candidate combines strong Workday Financials expertise with a solid understanding of finance operations, process improvement, and digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the functional lead for Workday Financials, supporting Core Financials, Procurement, Expenses, Assets, Accounting Center, Prism Analytics, and related finance operations.

Lead configuration, enhancements, and support across finance processes, including General Ledger, journal entries, chart of accounts, period management, allocations, consolidations, and close activities.

Configure and maintain company hierarchies, organizational structures, security roles, and finance business processes to support accurate processing, reporting, compliance, and governance.

Act as the primary Workday Finance lead for Finance Business Partners and Centers of Excellence, translating business requirements into scalable configurations, enhancements, and process improvements.

Support budgeting, planning, and actuals-related processes, ensuring alignment with finance reporting and downstream planning needs.

Drive system releases, updates, and configuration changes to maintain platform optimization and alignment with company strategy.

Partner with integration teams on finance-related interfaces, including banking, procurement, payroll, EPM, and data warehouse solutions.

Serve as the primary system point of contact for period-close, year-end activities, end-user support, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the Workday Finance team, ensuring day-to-day operations, project work, and support activities remain on track.

Plan and monitor team workloads based on business demand, project timelines, and resource capacity.

Establish clear goals and performance standards, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Serve as a liaison between leadership, Finance, IT, and end users.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in the Workday ecosystem, including 6+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience across implementation and support.

Hands-on Workday configuration experience in Financial Management.

Experience leading small teams and/or managing work intake, prioritization, and release activities.

Experience in global, multi-entity environments and complex worktag frameworks.

Strong understanding of Financial Data Model (FDM) concepts and their application in Workday Financials.

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business needs between Finance stakeholders and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Workday Pro Certification in Core Financials.

Experience with Accounting Center, Prism Analytics, and finance-related integrations.

Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning.

Experience supporting global organizations, multi-entity structures.

Previous experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.

Experience with one or more: Intercompany, Assets, Revenue, Expenses, Procurement.

Experience in global/multi-country organizations, multi-currency planning, and shared services operating models.

Familiarity with CargoWise (C1) is a plus.

Freight forwarding/logistics industry experience.

Education, Location and others

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
