Workday Extend+ Integration Consultant

About the Role
- We're looking for an experienced Workday Extend+ Integration Consultant to design, build, and support custom applications and integrations on the Workday platform. You'll work closely with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to extend Workday's native functionality and connect it with third-party systems, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
- Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom applications using Workday Extend, including custom objects, business processes, and UI components
- Build and maintain integrations between Workday and external systems using Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST)
- Partner with functional teams (HCM, Payroll, Financials) to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Develop custom APIs and orchestrations to support business-specific workflows not covered by out-of-the-box Workday functionality
- Troubleshoot integration failures, performance issues, and data discrepancies across environments
- Support tenant configuration changes, security group setup, and business process customizations tied to Extend apps
- Conduct unit testing, UAT support, and documentation for all custom builds
- Monitor integration health and proactively resolve errors in production
- Collaborate with Workday's release management cycles (bi-annual updates) to ensure custom apps remain compatible
- Provide knowledge transfer and technical documentation to internal teams
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Workday Integrations (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services)
- Direct experience building and deploying Workday Extend applications (custom objects, orchestrations, custom APIs)
- Strong understanding of Workday security model, business process framework, and calculated fields
- Experience with XML, XSLT, JSON, and REST/SOAP web services
- Familiarity with Workday Studio and Extend Studio development lifecycle
- Ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues independently
- Strong communication skills for working with distributed, cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Extend Certification
- Additional Workday certifications (Integrations, HCM, or Financials)
- Experience in multi-tenant or multi-client consulting environments
- Prior experience supporting Workday releases and regression testing for custom apps
