Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Workday Consultant to join our HR Technology team. The consultant will serve as a key subject matter expert and hands-on configurator across multiple Workday modules, including Recruiting, Benefits, Advanced Compensation, US Payroll and Talent.

This is a core configuration and delivery role focused on implementing change requests, system enhancements, ongoing maintenance, and supporting critical HR processes such as Open Enrollment, Merit/Performance cycles, and Payroll operations. The ideal candidate will analyze business requirements, design solutions, perform configurations, conduct testing, and manage production deployments while ensuring high-quality delivery and system stability.

The consultant will work closely with the client team of HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and HRIS teams to ensure stable, compliant, and scalable Workday operations and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Functional & Technical Support

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Change Requests and system enhancements, including design, configuration, unit testing, UAT support, peer review, and production deployment.
  • Provide ongoing module maintenance, monitoring, and support across assigned Workday functional areas.
  • Provide recommendations aligned with Workday best practices and governance standards
  • Work closely with respective business stakeholders to ensure project deliverables.

Module-Specific Responsibilities

Primary Module

Recruiting.

  • Design and optimize complex Workday Recruiting business processes, including job requisition creation, approval routing, and candidate dispositioning.
  • Partner with the Recruiting team to maintain and support the Recruiting module
  • Design complex Matrix, Trend, and Composite reports, alongside calculated fields for talent acquisition metrics.
  • Configure and optimize Recruiting Business Processes (BPs) with advanced condition rules and validations. Build custom job application flows, interview pipelines, offer letters, and onboarding handoffs.
  • Partner with the Recruiting team to enhance the Recruiting module by proactively proposing new features and enhancements

Additional Module

1. Benefits

  • Partner with the Benefits team to maintain and support the Benefits module
  • Support the Benefits team with Open Enrollment, ACA Filings and other annual events completed within Workday.
  • Configure eligibility rules, benefit events, plans, and validations based on the plan designs provided by the Benefits team.
  • Partner with the Benefits team to enhance the Benefits module by proactively proposing new features and enhancements

2. Advanced Compensation

  • Partner with the Compensation team to maintain and support the Compensation and Advanced Compensation modules
  • Support the Compensation team with Merit, Bonus, Stock and Commission processes
  • Configure compensation packages, eligibility rules, compensation plans, and compensation statements based on the plan designs provided by the Compensation team.
  • Partner with the Compensation team to enhance the Compensation module by proactively proposing new features and enhancements

3. Talent

  • Partner with the Talent and Performance teams to maintain and support the Talent and Performance modules
  • Support the team with the annual talent processes including Performance Management, Succession Planning, Goal Setting and Career Development.
  • Configure eligibility rules, business process workflows, and validations based on the plan designs provided by the Talent and Performance teams.
  • Partner with the Talent and Performance teams to enhance the Talent and Performance modules by proactively proposing new features and enhancements

4. US Payroll

  • Partner with the Payroll team to maintain and support the Payroll module, including creating and maintaining custom Earnings, Pre/Post-Tax Deductions, and custom Accumulators.
  • Build and maintain complex calculation logic, using calculated fields and placeholders within the Workday calculation framework to support corporate bonus cycles, garnishments, and retroactive pay adjustments.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders on payroll testing and issue resolution.
  • Ensure payroll compliance and production stability
  • Partner with the Payroll team to enhance the Payroll module by proactively proposing new features and enhancements

Change Request & Enhancement Management

  • Analyze and estimate Change Requests (CRs)
  • Prepare design and configuration approach documents
  • Perform system configurations and functional testing
  • Conduct Unit Testing and support UAT activities
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality validations
  • Coordinate production deployments and post-production validation
  • Review new Workday features and proactively propose solutions

Governance & Operational Support

  • Follow established governance and change management processes
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit compliance
  • Maintain configuration documents and KT artifacts
  • Participate in release management and regression testing activities
  • Support system maintenance and tenant stability initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/masters degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on Workday configuration and support experience.
  • Strong functional knowledge and configuration expertise in at least three of the following modules: HCM, Recruiting and Onboarding, Benefits, Advanced Compensation, US Payroll, Talent, and Reporting.
  • Proven experience supporting annual processes including Open Enrollment, Merit/ACR cycles, and Performance Management launches.
  • Solid understanding of US Payroll processes and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Certified in one or more modules (HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll).
  • Experience working in a global or multi-country Workday environment.
  • Previous consulting or implementation partner experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies for project delivery.
