Workday Functional Consultant Responsibilities
Core HCM Requirements (Mandatory)
- Strong understanding of foundational Workday HCM principles including:
- Architecture, Business Processes, Reporting
- Calculated Fields, Security, Notifications
- Hands-on experience configuring Workday modules such as:
- Core HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, Payroll, or Learning
- Assist with data migration and ensure data accuracy
- Identify and implement process improvements using Workday
- Experience with:
- Workday Docs, Letter Templates, Questionnaires, Surveys, Reference Letters, Custom Alerts
- Onboarding, Change Job, and Termination business processes
- Ability to create Calculated Fields and Custom Reports
- Strong understanding of Security Group permissions
- Provide recommendations to Tier 1 teams to resolve incorrect transactions
Time & Absence Functional Requirements
- Advanced hands-on experience with:
- Time-off plan configuration (complex accruals, carryovers, shadow plans)
- Leave configuration (cascading leaves, intermittent leaves, eligibility rules)
- Experience with:
- Automated leave return
- Balance adjustments and transfers
- Sell Time Off and related processes
- Workday Time Tracking configuration:
- Time submissions and employee work schedules
- Reporting experience using Absence and Time Tracking data sources
- Knowledge of Workday API capabilities for Absence and Time Tracking
Payroll Functional Requirements
- Strong understanding of payroll-related HCM principles
- Experience with:
- Payroll processing (Calculate, Complete, Settle)
- Payroll components (Earnings, Deductions, Posting Rules, Run Categories)
- Third-party payroll configurations (External Earnings/Deductions)
- Reporting experience using Payroll Results and Accounting (Journal Lines)
- Knowledge of payroll regulatory rules and payroll touchpoints:
- Time Tracking, Absence, Compensation, Benefits
Workday Technical Consultant Responsibilities (Mandatory)
- Own the hire-to-retire lifecycle within Workday
- Design, develop, test, and deploy new Workday functionality
- Lead and support Workday integrations using:
- Workday Studio (primary)
- EIBs and Core Connectors
- Perform data and document transformations using XSLT (preferably XSLT 3.0)
- Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure system stability
- Configure and maintain integration security
- Support Workday bi-annual releases
- Partner with HR, Business Leaders, and People Engineering teams
Technical Requirements
- 5+ years of experience implementing or managing Workday solutions
- 4+ years of hands-on Workday HCM configuration experience
- 2+ years of experience supporting additional Workday modules:
- Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, Performance, Learning
- Strong HR domain knowledge with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Comfortable working in complex and ambiguous environments
