Job Title: Wiring & Harness Designer

Job Description

The Wiring & Harness Designer will design and develop wiring harnesses and associated schematics for automotive applications. This role involves creating detailed 2D drawings, selecting appropriate components, and using specialized design tools to deliver accurate and reliable harness designs that meet project and industry standards. The designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and contribute actively as a supportive and communicative team member.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop wiring harnesses for automotive applications, ensuring reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Apply wiring harness domain knowledge to select appropriate components based on technical criteria and application needs.
  • Create clear and accurate 2D drawings for wiring harnesses, including all necessary details for manufacturing and installation.
  • Develop wiring harness drawings using Vector PREEvision or equivalent tools such as CHS or similar harness design software.
  • Create schematic diagrams using Vector PREEvision or equivalent tools, ensuring that electrical connections and configurations are correctly represented.
  • Review and refine wiring harness and schematic designs to improve clarity, performance, and ease of implementation.
  • Collaborate with team members from engineering and related functions to understand design requirements and incorporate feedback into harness designs.
  • Communicate design decisions, issues, and updates clearly and professionally to stakeholders and team members.
  • Contribute as an active team player by supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and participating in design discussions and reviews.

Essential Skills

  • Strong wiring harness domain knowledge, including understanding of harness architecture and component selection criteria.
  • Hands-on experience creating wiring harness drawings using Vector PREEvision or equivalent tools such as CHS or similar harness design software.
  • Hands-on experience creating schematic diagrams using Vector PREEvision or equivalent tools.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D drawing creation for wiring harnesses and related components.
  • Automotive domain experience, with exposure to automotive electrical or wiring systems.
  • Good communication skills to effectively share information and collaborate with team members.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute as a reliable team player.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with multiple wiring harness design tools, including Vector PREEvision and CHS or similar applications.
  • Familiarity with schematic design practices in automotive or related industries.
  • Ability to interpret and translate automotive electrical requirements into wiring harness and schematic designs.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in drawings and schematics.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to support cross-functional engineering activities.

The Wiring & Harness Designer will work in a professional engineering environment focused on automotive electrical and wiring systems.
