We are seeking an experienced Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize virtual desktop environments on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 5 years of experience in deploying and supporting WVD solutions, along with a solid understanding of Microsoft technologies, user profile management, and security best practices in a virtual desktop infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and manage Windows Virtual Desktop (Azure Virtual Desktop) environments
- Manage host pools, session hosts, application groups, and user assignments
- Perform image management and updates using custom or marketplace images
- Configure and manage FSLogix profiles and storage
- Monitor performance, availability, and usage of virtual desktop resources
- Troubleshoot WVD-related issues including session connectivity, user logon problems, and application errors
- Integrate WVD with Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Group Policy
- Implement and manage security controls, including role-based access control (RBAC), conditional access, and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Work with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration with networking, identity, and security infrastructure
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to WVD deployments and procedures
- Participate in patch management and compliance reporting
- Provide support and training for end users as needed
Required Skills:
- 4 to 5 years of experience as a Windows System Administrator with at least 2+ years in WVD/AVD administration
- Hands-on experience with Azure Portal, ARM templates, PowerShell scripting, and Azure CLI
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals
- Experience with FSLogix, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
- Familiarity with profile container technologies and user experience optimization
- Experience in monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Strong troubleshooting skills in a multi-user environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft certifications such as:
- AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator
- Experience with Citrix on Azure, VMware Horizon Cloud, or other VDI platforms
- Understanding of Zero Trust security model and best practices in virtualized environments
- Exposure to DevOps pipelines and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform
