Job Description

The Senior Windows Server Administrator is responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise-level Windows Server environments to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role leads strategic infrastructure administration, drives automation initiatives, oversees upgrades, and mentors junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

Server Operations: Manage file servers, print servers, application servers, and associated services.

Patch Management: Lead system updates and patch rollouts using tools such as WSUS, SCCM, or PDQ Deploy.

Virtualization: Administer Hyper-V or VMware vSphere environments, handling VM provisioning, resource allocation, and performance optimization.

Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and replication solutions (e.g., Veeam, Azure Site Recovery).

System Upgrades: Plan and execute OS migrations and infrastructure upgrades.

Automation: Develop advanced PowerShell scripts or other automation tools to streamline routine tasks and system configurations.

Application Support: Deploy and support enterprise applications including Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and SharePoint.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Conduct performance monitoring, capacity planning, and resolve complex system issues.

Security & Compliance: Ensure system security, patch compliance, access control, and audit readiness.

Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and service-level reports.

Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior administrators, promoting best practices and skill development.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Experience:

Minimum 710 years of experience in Windows System Administration within large-scale enterprise environments.

Technical Skills:

Expert knowledge of Windows Server (20162022) and Active Directory architecture.

Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects, file/print services.

Strong expertise in Hyper-V or VMware virtualization platforms.

Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions (Veeam, Azure Backup, etc.).

Competency in managing Exchange, SQL, and SharePoint servers.

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals related to Windows services.
