Primary Purpose
The Windchill Platform Administrator / PLM Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Windchill PLM platform. This role supports engineering, manufacturing, and downstream systems by ensuring system stability, data integrity, and efficient engineering workflows across CAD, BOM, document, and change management processes.
Major Responsibilities
- Administer and support PTC Windchill PDMLink, including users, groups, roles, lifecycles, workflows, and access controls
- Support core Windchill business objects such as Parts, BOMs, Documents, and Change Notices (CN / CR / ECO)
- Troubleshoot Windchill performance, data, and configuration issues across environments (DEV / TEST / PROD)
- Support CAD integrations (Creo and other CAD tools) and resolve CAD-to-Windchill publishing issues
- Manage system configurations, preferences, saved filters, views, and container strategies
- Partner with engineering and IT teams to support upgrades, patches, and platform enhancements
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for Windchill customizations, configurations, and deployment automation
- Perform root cause analysis for system incidents and implement preventive improvements
- Maintain system documentation, standards, and operational procedures
- Provide Tier 2/3 support and mentorship to business users and analysts
Education
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
Work Experience
3 years of experience administering or supporting PTC Windchill in a production environment
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Ability to read and troubleshoot logs, configuration files, and system integrations
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical issues for non-technical users
- Solid general IT knowledge (Linux/Windows servers, networking basics, logs, security concepts)
- Strong understanding of PLM concepts: product structure, BOMs, change management, and document control
- Working knowledge of CAD systems and engineering data workflows
- Experience supporting integrations between PLM and ERP systems
- Experience with Azure Cloud
- Experience with PTC ThingWorx
- Experience with Windchill customization and configuration management
- Working knowledge of Java and/or SQL for troubleshooting and light development
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, etc.)
