Role: Wireless (WiFi) Firmware Engineer
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain WiFi firmware and device drivers for SoC-based platforms, targeting IEEE 802.11 families (a/b/g/n/ac/ax).
- Develop and optimise network-stack components (MAC, PHY glue, authentication, roaming, power management) to meet throughput, latency and power targets.
- Integrate firmware with RTOS and Linux systems: board bring-up, device trees, kernel drivers, and hardware abstraction layers; validate on target hardware.
- Implement secure firmware workflows including OTA updates, bootloader integration, secure storage, and support WiFi Alliance/regulatory certification activities.
- Profile and debug complex wireless issues using packet captures, hardware trace tools and logs; identify and resolve memory, timing and concurrency bugs.
- Work closely with hardware, QA and cloud teams to define interfaces, create test plans, reproduce field issues and drive fixes to closure on-site.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 3+ years firmware/embedded experience in WiFi or wireless connectivity.
- Strong C programming for embedded systems, low-level debugging and hands-on experience with hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, SDIO, I2C).
- Practical experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, 802.11 family), RTOS or Linux kernel driver development and WiFi debugging tools (Wireshark, packet capture).
Preferred
- Exposure to WPA3, 802.11ax, Bluetooth coexistence strategies, secure boot and OTA frameworks.
- Familiarity with WiFi Alliance and regulatory certification processes, automated test frameworks and lab-based compliance testing.
- Experience with CI/CD for firmware, scripting (Python), and performance profiling/tagging on embedded platforms.
Benefits & Culture Highlights
- Hands-on, product-focused engineering culture with direct impact on device features and certification outcomes.
- On-site access to dedicated wireless labs, testbeds and mentorship from experienced RF/firmware engineers.
- Competitive compensation, clear growth pathways and opportunities to lead product-level features for market-ready devices.
