Welding Inspector--OMAN

he CBT Welding Inspector (TPI) will act as an independent third-party representative to ensure that all welding and fabrication activities for offshore structures are executed in full compliance with client specifications, international standards, and project quality requirements. The role involves unbiased inspection, verification, and reporting to the client.

Key Responsibilities

1. NDT Coordination
2. Witness and validate NDT activities such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.
3. Review NDT reports and ensure acceptance criteria compliance.
4. Documentation & Reporting
5. Review and endorse QA/QC documentation including:
6. Welding procedures (WPS/PQR)
7. Inspection reports
8. Material traceability records
9. Prepare daily/weekly inspection reports and submit to client/TPI agency.
10. Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
11. Compliance & Standards
12. Ensure adherence to: AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO standards, Client specifications and project requirements
13. Verify material identification and traceability.
14. Stakeholder Coordination
15. Interface with contractor QA/QC, client representatives, and project team.
16. Provide technical clarification and inspection feedback.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

1. Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
2. CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI or equivalent (Mandatory).
3. CBT Certification (as per client/project requirements).
4. Knowledge of international codes and offshore fabrication standards.

Experience Requirements

1. 5–10 years in welding inspection.
2. Mandatory experience in Third Party Inspection (TPI) assignments.
3. Strong background in offshore structures (jackets, topsides, modules) fabricated in onshore yards.
4. Experience in GCC (preferably Oman) is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

1. Proficiency in welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW.
2. Strong understanding of fit-up tolerances and structural fabrication.
3. Ability to read fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and weld maps.
4. Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and documentation systems.
