Welding Engineer

Job summary

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to perform the functions of a Welding Engineer, whom will have the responsibility of reviewing project specifications for welding processes, base metal, filler metal, and heat treatment requirements. Develops and writes Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and provide technical support for welder performance testing.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement advanced welding processes including MIG/TIG.
2. Review design standards to provide input to designs and part process standards.
3. Provide input for manufacturing release reviews, manufacturing process options and evaluate manufacturing process.
4. Help create, maintain, and approve work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, process control, and tooling definition/requirements.
5. Coordinate welding best practices, implement floor process optimization, and control methods.
6. Significant interaction with production, quality and materials management teams.
7. Leading welding projects.
8. Analyzing engineering designs for welding requirements.
9. Reviewing welding procedures, processes, and documentation.
10. Managing welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams.
11. Conducting failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.

Requirements

1. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/welding engineering or related field.
2. 4 or more years of welding engineering experience required
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Certified to ASME Section IX, preferred
5. ASME CWI or equivalent, preferred
6. NDT Level II (VT, PT, and MT) Certified Preferred.
