Job Description

Web Content Executive

We invite applications for the role of Web Content Team Member, to be part of the web and digital communications team supporting all web properties of the Azim Premji Foundation including the Azim Premji University.

  • Location Bangalore
  • Engagement Full-time

The web and digital communications team manages the web presence for the Foundation which includes the Azim Premji University as well as a growing set of related web properties such as web magazines and other sites. The team's work spans content, editorial oversight, search engine optimisation, analytics, information architecture, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

This is a role for someone who combines strong writing and editorial ability with a working comfort in web technologies, analytics, and content management systems.

The main job responsibilities for this position are:

  • Shape internal drafts and inputs from teams into clear, accurate, editorially sound content. Content is likely to range from admissions, programme information, student life for the University, and to the various areas of Foundation's work including health and education.
  • Copy edit and proofread content required across the organisation including research reports, academic books, and working papers as well as across social media platforms.
  • Bring an SEO-informed sensibility to content decisions including page structure, language, and framing, all without compromising editorial tone or accuracy.
  • Uphold a consistent editorial voice and quality standard across a growing and diversifying set of web properties.
  • Own content and page management on the University's Craft CMS platform, and contribute to decisions on how the Foundation's WordPress presence is maintained and expanded.
  • Use Google Analytics (GA4) and related data to shape reports that inform content strategy, identify gaps, and share recommendations.
  • Represent the web and digital communications function in conversations with internal stakeholders and external vendors, exercising editorial and strategic judgement.
  • Contribute to the team's approach to new web properties as the portfolio expands, including how content, structure, and voice are established for each.
  • Manage a body of concurrent work with independence, applying sound judgement on prioritisation and escalation.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • A graduate or postgraduate degree.
  • 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in web content, editorial, or digital communications roles; candidates with 7 to 8 years of experience, and a demonstrated ability to operate independently and exercise sound editorial judgement, are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to bring clarity, accuracy, and voice to complex or unstructured content.
  • A working understanding of SEO principles and how they inform content and structural decisions.
  • Familiarity with at least one content management system (WordPress, Craft, or similar), and the ability to learn a new CMS quickly and independently.
  • Comfort working with Google Analytics or a comparable tool, with the ability to draw insight from data rather than simply report it.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, vendors, and priorities, with minimal supervision.
  • Curiosity and a genuine interest in the evolving web and digital communications landscape.
  • Prior experience with Craft CMS, vendor management, basic HTML will be an advantage.
