Job Title: Director – Operations – Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC)

Industry: Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) / Banking / NBFC

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced director – operations to lead end-to-end operations of an asset reconstruction company, with strong expertise in NPA acquisition, stressed asset management, recovery, resolution, portfolio management, legal recovery, regulatory compliance, and operational strategy.

The role will be responsible for managing acquired stressed asset portfolios, driving recovery and resolution strategies, overseeing operational processes, and managing relationships with banks/NBFCs, borrowers, investors, resolution agencies, legal partners, valuers, and regulatory authorities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee end-to-end ARC operations, from NPA acquisition and due diligence to resolution, recovery, and closure.
  • Manage stressed/NPA portfolios across Corporate/Large Corporate, SME/MSME, Retail, Mortgage/LAP, Vehicle/Equipment, Personal Loan/Credit Card and Commercial Real Estate.
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities through VDR-based due diligence, financial/legal assessment, borrower analysis, security coverage, AML/29A checks and risk assessment.
  • Develop and implement resolution, recovery, restructuring, settlement, and turnaround strategies for stressed assets.
  • Drive recovery through SARFAESI, DRT, NCLT, IBC, restructuring, OTS/settlement, and secured asset auctions.
  • Oversee the trust deed, offer document, assignment agreement, borrower communication, and other ARC transaction documentation.
  • Manage relationships with Banks/NBFCs, investors, borrowers, resolution agencies, legal counsels, valuers and enforcement agencies.
  • Monitor portfolio performance through MIS, dashboards, ageing analysis, recovery targets, KPIs and regular management reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with RBI, CERSAI, SARFAESI, IBC and other applicable regulatory/statutory requirements.
  • Oversee legal and litigation management, including DRT/NCLT/civil matters, substitution applications, enforcement actions and auction proceedings.
  • Lead collateral valuation, property inspections, auction processes and buyer/investor identification.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, automation, SOP implementation, internal controls and TAT monitoring.
  • Lead, mentor and develop large cross-functional operations and recovery teams, ensuring productivity, accountability and performance.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Legal, Audit, Collections, Compliance and other internal functions for seamless operations.
  • Ensure timely regulatory, audit and management reporting, including RBI, CERSAI, auditors and rating agencies.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate controls, mitigation measures and governance frameworks.

 

Desired Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in ARC, bank, NBFC or stressed asset/recovery business.
  • Strong hands-on experience in NPA acquisition, ARC operations, stressed asset resolution and recovery.
  • Proven experience managing large stressed asset portfolios/AUM and complex resolution cases.
  • Strong knowledge of SARFAESI, IBC, DRT, NCLT and RBI regulations.
  • Experience across multiple asset classes such as Corporate, SME/MSME, Retail, Mortgage/LAP, Vehicle/Equipment, PL/Cards and CRE.
  • Strong exposure to restructuring, settlement/OTS, SARFAESI enforcement, auction and litigation management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and external recovery/resolution agencies.
  • Strong stakeholder management with Banks/NBFCs, investors, borrowers, legal teams, valuers and regulatory authorities.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, negotiation, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Experience in MIS, portfolio monitoring, operational controls, process automation, and governance.

 

Qualification

MBA / CA / LLB / CS / CFA or equivalent qualification preferred.

Additional qualifications/certifications in banking, risk management, insolvency, recovery, or stressed asset management will be an advantage.
