Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our technical team at the New Delhi Head Office. The engineer will play a key role in hydrological and hydraulic analyses, flood risk and dam safety studies, and advanced modeling assignments supporting river basin and infrastructure projects. The position requires proven experience in technical modeling, result interpretation, and preparation of high-quality deliverables aligned with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake hydraulic and flood modeling using tools such as HEC-RAS (1D/2D), MIKE11, MIKE21, MIKE FLOOD, or equivalent software.
- Execute dam safety studies, including:
- Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping.
- Setup, calibration, and validation of hydraulic and hydrological models for dam and reservoir systems.
- Support development and improvement of Flood Forecasting and Early Warning Systems.
- Conduct hydrological assessments, rainfall-runoff studies, and flood frequency analyses.
- Integrate remote sensing and GIS data (DEM, catchment delineation, rainfall, land use, etc.) into modeling frameworks.
- Contribute to risk assessment and emergency action planning for dam and flood-prone areas.
- Assist in preparation of Feasibility Reports, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and Dam Safety Evaluation Reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (hydrologists, geotechnical, structural, and environmental experts) to support project planning and design.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, maps, presentations, and visualizations for clients and stakeholders.
- Support development of proposals and technical sections for consulting assignments in the water resources sector.
Education
Qualifications and Experience
- M. Tech. /M.E. in Water Resources Engineering from institute of repute.
- B.Tech./B.E. in Civil Engineering from a recognized institute.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in water resources consulting or applied research.
- Hands-on experience with dam safety, flood risk modeling, or river hydraulic studies.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in HEC-RAS (1D/2D), MIKE suite (11/21/FLOOD), or similar modeling software.
- Experience in model setup, calibration, and scenario analysis.
- Working knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS) for spatial data processing and inundation mapping.
- Strong technical writing, data analysis, and visualization skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Exposure to Dam Safety and Rehabilitation Projects under national or MDB-funded programs.
- Familiarity with Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS), IFAS, or other forecasting models.
- Understanding of integrated water resources management (IWRM) and climate resilience approaches.
- Ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary projects and deliver within timelines.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with prior involvement in the following types of projects will be preferred:
- Dam Safety and Rehabilitation Projects (e.g., World Bank or CWC-funded programs).
- Dam Break and Inundation Mapping studies for large and medium reservoirs.
- Flood Risk Assessment and River Basin Modelling assignments.
- Hydropower and Irrigation Project Feasibility or Detailed Design studies.
- Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System Development initiatives.
- Climate Resilience and Hydrological Data Analysis for infrastructure planning.
- Integrated Water Resources and Basin Planning programs for national or multilateral clients.
