Join us as a VP - Structured Lending & Financing at Barclays, where candidate will be responsible for a portfolio consisting of US Commercial Real Estate transactions. The role involves managing exposures and limits with acceptable risk parameters within delegated authority, completion of credit applications, assessment of new transaction requests from the Front Office and ongoing monitoring of exposures.
To be a successful VP - Structured Lending & Financing a person should have Knowledge of applicable rating agency methodologies is highly desired, including core assumptions and limitations. The role comprises initial transaction analysis, review and sanction, in addition to post-sanction monitoring, annual review and excess/exceptions management.
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as Provide professional advice to front office with regards to risk appetite set for individual clients. Interact with the business and legal departments on documentation to support appropriate credit facilities and communicate with sales and clients as required. Provide regular feedback to senior sanctioners and portfolio owners for reviewing credit policies, guidelines and procedures to strengthen control.
Basic/ Essential Qualifications
- Act as credit officer for corporate credit exposures across US Commercial Real Estate for investment grade and non-investment grade clients.
- Prepare and analyse credit proposals for new and existing transactions.
- Judiciously apply delegated discretion to provide credit sanction and / or provide commercially mindful challenge to new business proposals and / or transaction amendments.
- Interface with Business / Deal Team and provide structuring advice on transactions, with a focus on RCF and derivative facilities.
- Conduct operational and financial due diligence of clients and participate in management and bank meetings.
- Provide support on portfolio analysis and initial and ongoing due diligence reviews of assigned transactions.
- Prepare and present sector/asset class reviews.
- Contribute towards policy and process improvement initiatives.
- Stay current on market developments, including origination and pricing levels, and in turn alert senior management.

Desirable Skillsets/ Good To Have
- Masters / Professional qualification such as MBA/ CA/ CFA or equivalent
- Solid credit risk management background, including analysis and approval of transactions and managing a portfolio, preferably covering US Commercial Real Estate.
- Understanding of Investment Banking products, as well as associated legal documentation and relevant risk metrics.
This role will be based out of Mumbai.
Purpose of the role
To independently assess and make credit decisions for complex financing transactions within the LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Funds sectors, ensuring alignment with the bank's credit risk appetite and regulatory requirements and contribute to the development and implementation of credit risk policies and procedures for the Specialised Sector.
Accountabilities
- Analysis of complex financial information and business models of LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Fund clients to assess their creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and potential risks.
- Monitoring of the performance of the LevFin, SLF, and Hedge Fund portfolio, identifying and reporting early warning signs of potential credit deterioration.
- Evaluation of the risk profile of each application considering factors like industry trends, borrower financials, collateral, and market conditions.
- Documentation credit decisions and rationale in a clear and concise manner, adhering to internal audit and regulatory reporting standards.
- Development and implementation of strategies to mitigate identified credit risks and optimise portfolio performance.
