How will you make an impact in this role

This is a Vice President position in Finance Controllership responsible for leading the Card & Merchant Accounting and Controls (CMAC) function, reporting to the Vice President/Head, Global Financial Operations. The CMAC function is responsible for AR/AP accounting for the Company which includes - CM Payments, Merchant Settlements, CM Disputes/Fraud, Abandoned Property and B2B Incentives accounting. The position will manage a team of 170+ colleagues primarily spread across Gurgaon and Bangalore locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting for Card Member AR/Loans including CM Spend, Card Member Remittances, Credit Balance Refund/Transfer processes.
  • Accounting for B2B Incentives including Corporate Client Incentives, Merchant Rebates etc.
  • Accounting for end-to-end Merchant process including Payables, Payments, Gross Pay, Debit Balances etc.
  • Accounting for Card Member Disputes and Fraud processes
  • Governance for Unclaimed Monies (Abandoned Property) including ensuring compliance with applicable laws, reporting and ensuring appropriate treatment of balances.
  • As the accounting source owner of key System of Records for the company, manage and govern system accounting feeds into General ledger including associated accounting rules
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounting and implementation of key strategic initiatives having an impact on the card members and merchants
  • Partner with various teams for linkages / dependencies related to Cash, AR and AP processes and initiatives.
  • Ensuring strong health of the Balance Sheet through timely identification of reconciliation related risk and driving mitigation plans
  • Leverage the AR/AP data to create meaningful insights for key stakeholders and enable Controllership to become a strategic partner for the business
  • Maintaining the highest levels of control compliance & accuracy including ownership of RCSA activities and BCP

Minimum Qualifications

  • CA/MBA/CPA with minimum 15+ years of diverse experience
  • Proven experience in actively supporting enterprise wide transformational initiatives
  • Able to leverage technologies and AI solutions to make processes more efficient and effective
  • Intellectually curious and seeks out challenging opportunities outside of comfort zone
  • Strong people leader, driven and enthusiastic with prior experience of leading large teams
  • Exhibits strong gravitas & executive presence
  • Has consistently exceeded leadership expectations despite difficult & unforeseen circumstances
  • Strong understanding of AXP Financial Accounting & Reporting practices/policies/systems
  • Ability to build positive relationships and influence others across businesses and people at various levels in the organization
  • Ability to handle a high-pressure environment, decision making in challenging situations
  • Strong knowledge of the AXP business & industry
