At QAD, we're building the next generation of intelligent, adaptive enterprise platformsand we're looking for a bold, forwardthinking Senior Director of Engineering to lead the charge.

This is a highly visible, highimpact leadership role where you will define technical strategy, architect modern cloud platforms on AWS, and lead endtoend delivery of enterprisescale SaaS products. You'll operate with Champion Pace, shaping how AI, BI, and datadriven insights are embedded across the SDLC while building a culture of ownership, agility, and platform excellence.

You will balance deep technical credibility with strong business acumen, acting as a proactive, assertive leader who inspires teams and influences senior stakeholders while delivering secure, scalable, and futureready solutions.

The Mission: What You'll Be Building

You will be a core driver behind the design, development, and evolution of QAD's nextgeneration platform, anchored on:

  • Adaptive Applications The intelligent backbone powering modern manufacturing enterprises.
  • Champion AI Agentic AI capabilities that unlock measurable productivity, automation, and growth.

From greenfield platform development to largescale modernization, you will lead teams building cloudnative, AIenabled, datadriven platforms on AWS, integrating BI, analytics, and intelligent automation deeply into the product lifecycle

Your Impact/ What You Will Be Doing:

Platform Architecture & Technical Strategy

  • Own and drive the endtoend technical vision for a critical platform function, aligning architecture and execution with business strategy.
  • Lead AWSbased cloud architecture, leveraging microservices, eventdriven design, and infrastructureascode (Terraform/CDK).
  • Champion APIfirst, platformasaproduct thinking, enabling extensibility, scalability, and faster innovation.

New Platform Development & Innovation

  • Lead the conceptualization and launch of new platforms and major capabilities, from ideation through production and scale.
  • Embed AI, ML, and BI capabilities into the SDLCdriving intelligent workflows, predictive insights, and datadriven decisionmaking.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and proactively introduce innovations that create competitive advantage.

Agile Delivery, Velocity & Quality

  • Drive Agile, productcentric engineering practices, enabling fast iteration without compromising quality or security.
  • Establish strong CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and observability.
  • Define and track DORA metrics, engineering KPIs, and platform health indicators to continuously improve delivery and reliability.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Act as a handson, credible technical leader, guiding architectural decisions and resolving the most complex, crosssystem challenges.
  • Mentor Directors, Managers, Architects, and Senior/Principal Engineers, building a strong leadership bench.
  • Lead highimpact design and code reviews across teams, setting a high bar for engineering excellence.

CrossFunctional Influence & Executive Partnership

  • Partner closely with Product, Info Security, and other groups to deliver worldclass SaaS solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive and nontechnical stakeholders, influencing decisions and driving alignment.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on platform, cloud, and AI strategy.

Strategic Accountability & Operations

  • Own outcomes that impact the broader organization, including delivery, reliability, cost, and scalability.
  • Manage engineering budgets, headcount planning, tooling strategy, and vendor partnerships.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards (SOC2, GDPR, etc.).

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience & Leadership

  • 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director / Senior Director / VP).
  • Proven success building and scaling highperforming teams across managers, architects, and senior ICs.
  • Strong track record of launching complex, enterprisegrade platforms or products.

Core Technical Foundations / What We Are Looking For

Cloud, Platform & Architecture Expertise

  • Deep handson experience with AWS (EKS, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Strong background in microservices, distributed systems, and API design (REST/GraphQL).
  • Expertise in databases (SQL & NoSQL), data modeling, and platform scalability patterns.

Engineering Foundations

  • Strong command of Data Structures & Algorithms, OOP principles, and system design.
  • Experience with modern backend technologies (Java, Node.js, Python) and web platforms.
  • Solid understanding of BI, analytics pipelines, and datadriven architectures.

DevOps, Security & SDLC

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD tooling, Gitbased workflows, and observability stacks.
  • Strong grasp of secure SDLC practices, compliance, and cloud security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in AIdriven platforms, FinTech, or highgrowth SaaS environments.
  • Background in startup or scaleup environments, building platforms from the ground up.
  • Exposure to agentic AI, intelligent automation, or advanced analytics platforms.
