TITLE:VP/Director, Private Loan Operations

DEPARTMENT:Finance and Operations

Job Summary

Organisation is seeking a Director based in India to lead execution across Private Loan Operations. This role serves as the primary India-based counterpart to U.S. leadership and is responsible for translating U.S.-defined strategy and priorities into consistent, high-quality execution.

The ideal candidate is a strong people manager and operator who can manage teams, enforce operational rigor, and ensure accuracy, scalability, and control across investment and finance workflows while supporting efficient deployment and return of investor capital.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Execution Management
  • Manages Team-leads and individual contributors across:
    • Large Balance Commercial Loans
    • Small Balance Loan Pools
  • Own day-to-day execution, capacity planning, and prioritization across teams
  • Establish clear performance expectations, metrics, and accountability
  • Coach and develop managers and high-performing individual contributors
  • Partner with U.S. leadership on hiring plans, onboarding, and team growth
  • Private Loan Operations
Oversee private loan operational execution across distinct loan strategies, ensuring appropriate processes, controls, and scale for each.

  • Large Private Loans

Oversee Operational Execution For Large Private Loans, Including

  • Deal onboarding and setup
  • Ongoing reconciliation support across systems, servicers, and counterparties
  • Portfolio-level and deal-level analytics

Coordinate With Loan Servicers And Banking Counterparties To Support

  • Loan administration and ongoing servicing workflows
  • Financing facilities and related operational requirements
  • Data delivery, reporting, and issue resolution

Partner closely with stakeholders to support reporting requirements, data accuracy, and analytical needs:

  • Ensure timely, accurate onboarding aligned with U.S.-defined requirements
  • Act as the escalation point for reconciliation breaks, data issues, and process gaps involving internal teams, servicers, or banks
  • Support evolving analytics and reporting needs as portfolios scale
  • Ensure workflows are well-documented, repeatable, and audit-ready
  • Small Balance Commercial (SBC) Loan Pools
  • Oversee a separate operational workstream focused on the efficiency and scalability of small balance commercial loan pools
  • Drive operational rigor across high-volume, loan-level workflows, including:
    • Data validation and onboarding efficiency
    • Loan-level asset management support
    • Servicer exception reporting and issue tracking
    • Remittance reconciliation
    • Month-end reporting and portfolio analytics
  • Partner with the Portfolio Management group to ensure reporting requirements are met accurately and consistently
  • Ensure processes are designed for scale, accuracy, and low operational friction
  • Monitor throughput, error rates, and cycle times, and drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with U.S. teams to refine data standards, reporting requirements, and escalation protocols
  • Ensure clear separation of workflows, ownership, and controls relative to large-loan operations
  • Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement
  • Execute U.S.-defined processes while identifying opportunities to:
  • Improve efficiency and throughput
  • Reduce errors and rework
  • Strengthening documentation and controls
  • Partner with technology and data teams to improve tooling, automation, and reporting
  • Ensure operational readiness as volumes, products, and complexity increase
  • Cross-Border Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for India-based execution
  • Provide regular visibility into:
  • Capacity, throughput, and delivery timelines
  • Operational risks and issues
  • Process stability and improvement opportunities
  • Communicate proactively across time zones
  • Escalate issues early with context and recommended actions
  • External Counterparties
Regular interaction with servicers, banks (including financing counterparties), custodians, brokers, and data vendors to coordinate operations, resolve exceptions, and ensure accurate, timely data and cash flows.

  • Potential Future Scope (as business needs evolve)
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on valuation processes and deliverables (e.g., Portfolio Management, Accounting, third-party valuation agents), ensuring data readiness, controls, and timely review cycles.
  • Oversee an in-house treasury function supporting the homebuilder business and private loan operations, including liquidity planning, intercompany funding workflows, bank administration, and controls.

Required Qualifications

  • 13+ years of experience in operations, finance, investment operations, treasury operations, or related roles within financial services, asset management, private credit, or similar environments
  • Proven experience managing large, multi functional teams (approximately 15-25+ people), including managers and senior individual contributors
  • Strong operational background in Private credit and/or loan operations (including onboarding, servicing, and reconciliations)
  • Demonstrated ability to execute U.S.-defined processes and priorities in a globally distributed organization
  • Experience working with external counterparties, such as servicers, banks, custodians, brokers, or data providers
  • Strong process orientation, with experience improving controls, documentation, and scalability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across time zones and seniority levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or partnering with:
    • Portfolio Management teams on reporting and data requirements
    • Financing structures, bank facilities, repo, or other secured funding arrangements
    • Exposure to high volume or pooled asset strategies (e.g., small balance commercial loans, structured portfolios)
  • Prior experience with:
    • Capital efficient cash management or liquidity operations
    • Familiarity with valuation workflows, including coordination with accounting teams or third party valuation providers
    • Exposure to treasury related activities such as liquidity planning, bank administration, or intercompany funding
  • Experience in a scaling or evolving platform, where processes are still being formalized
