Volunteer Coordinator

Company Description: Humane Animal Society (HAS) is a non-profit trust founded in 2006 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, to improve the welfare of stray animals. HAS focuses on animal birth control and anti-rabies programs and rescues animals in need of urgent medical attention. Rescued animals are treated and rehabilitated at the ABC and Rescue Center, with those unable to return safely to their communities given lifelong care at the HAS Sanctuary. The organization also promotes compassion and equal rights for all sentient beings through awareness and advocacy initiatives. HAS relies primarily on the support of individuals and corporate donors, supplemented by limited public funding.

Role Description: The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore. This role involves recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling volunteers for activities such as animal care, rescue support, events, and awareness programs. The coordinator will conduct volunteer orientations and training sessions, provide ongoing guidance, and ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for volunteers and animals. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining volunteer records, communicating shifts and responsibilities, coordinating with staff to identify volunteer needs, and supporting community outreach events and campaigns. The role also includes monitoring volunteer performance, recognizing contributions, and helping improve volunteer engagement and retention.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Volunteer Management and Volunteer Training skills to effectively recruit, train, and oversee volunteers.
• Candidates should possess solid Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to engage diverse volunteers, staff, and community members.
• Candidates should possess Community Outreach experience to support awareness campaigns, events, and partnerships.
• Ability to work on-site in Coimbatore, including some weekends or evenings as needed.
• Organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in scheduling and record-keeping.
• Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and empathy toward stray and rescued animals.
• Prior experience coordinating volunteers or working in non-profit or community-based organizations is preferred.
• Basic proficiency with office software and online communication tools.
