Roles & Responsibilities:

• The Senior VMWare Engineer is an integral part of the Virtualisation Engineering team, responsible for executing the architecture's strategy and enforcing best practices and standards. The role primarily involves designing, building, testing, implementing, and optimizing the virtual infrastructure, adhering to established security policies and guidelines. A wide range of technologies will be managed, including vRA, vRO, RecoverPoint, SRM, vSphere, ESX/ESXI, CISCO UCS, Huawei, Dell, vxRail, Tanzu, Nutanix, vSan, Networking, RVtools, vRops, VCF, LCM, vIDM, client technology, and storage systems. Additionally, the Senior VMWare Engineer will handle service and product management, performance and capacity management, patching, version management, and provide Level 3 operations support. The role requires generating and maintaining comprehensive documentation and guides for the supporting team to ensure efficient task execution and streamlined processes. As a Senior VMWare Engineer, they will lead projects, ensuring deliverables align with existing BAU standards. Project risks will be identified and mitigated, while supporting documentation will be sourced from third parties or created for handover to the BAU support team, as necessary. Monitoring will be implemented for the managed systems and reflected on relevant support BAU dashboards. The Senior VMWare Engineer proactively identifies and addresses single points of failure in the virtual infrastructure. They define, implement, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans for supported applications and services. Ensuring security requirements are met before transitioning to BAU teams is a crucial responsibility.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of hardware and software products. Proficiency in various IT concepts beyond their primary discipline, robust analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective interpersonal abilities to foster teamwork are essential. Attention to detail, impressive presentation capabilities, and efficient workload prioritization are vital attributes. The Senior VMWare Engineer should possess a forward-thinking mindset, excellent documentation skills, and the capability to establish and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. Self-motivation and the ability to exercise independent judgment are valuable in this role. Working in a dynamic environment requires quick thinking and the ability to communicate technical details effectively to non-technical audiences. Excellent communication, multitasking, time management, and customer service skills are desired.

Desired Experience:

The Senior VMware Engineer should have 5-10 years of experience supporting technologies such as VMware ESXi, vSphere, vRealize Operations, VSAN, and VMware PowerCLI. Familiarity with additional technologies like VCF, SRM, vRops, RecoverPoint, Cisco UCS, Dell Kit, EMC San Technologies, Microsoft Windows Server, Windows Clustering, Active Directory, and Linux Operating Systems would be beneficial. Knowledge of ITIL principles will also be advantageous.

Education and Training:

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience. Additional certifications like Private/Public cloud solutions (VCF) and Linux Operating Systems, ITIL Foundation, and VMware Certified Professional (VCAP - beneficial) will enhance qualifications for this role.
