Vmware Engineer

We are seeking a skilled VMware Senior Engineer with strong expertise in solution delivery to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing VMware-based virtualized environments.

This role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored infrastructure solutions, ensure seamless integration, and maintain a high level of system performance, scalability, and security for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design and Delivery:

• Lead architecture and deployment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX-T, and vSAN solutions.

• Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management using SDDC Manager / LCM.

• Architect and manage multi-site DR, stretched clusters, and cross-site networking (L2/L3).

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into VMware-based solutions tailored to client needs.

• Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning for VMware infrastructures to meet operational needs.

VMware Infrastructure Management:

• Administer VMware VCF, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, and VMware vSAN environments.

• Implement and manage VMware vRealize Suite for automation, orchestration, and monitoring of VMware environments.

Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:

• Integrate VMware platforms with backup, monitoring, and automation tools (Aria Operations, Aria Automation, SRM, Veeam, etc.).

• Perform root cause analysis for VMware infrastructure performance issues and implement corrective actions.

• Optimize VMware clusters and virtual machines to maximize resource utilization and minimize overhead.

• Monitor and proactively troubleshoot virtualized environments, identifying and resolving issues before they impact operations.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement security best practices including micro-segmentation, certificates, RBAC, and compliance hardening.

• Implement best practices for securing VMware environments, including patch management, network segmentation, and user access control.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards (HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.) by following proper security and auditing procedures.

• Work with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure data protection in virtualized environments.

Client Engagement &Consulting:

• Engage with clients to understand their infrastructure needs and business objectives, advising on the best VMware solutions.

• Guide clients through solution deployments, providing expert-level advice and best practices for VMware infrastructure management.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Document solution designs, implementation steps, and operational procedures.

• Provide clear and comprehensive reporting on the health, performance, and security of VMware environments.

• Maintain and update knowledge repositories and standard operating procedures for VMware-related tasks and processes.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Experience: 5+ years of experience working with VMware solutions (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, Aria Suite).

• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware-based solutions in production environments.

• Experience in delivering solution-based projects from start to finish, with a focus on customer satisfaction and performance.

• Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud integrations with VMware.

Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills:

• VMware vSphere (7.x / 8.x), ESXi, vCenter – Expert level

• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 4.x / 5.x / 9.x)

• NSX-T Data Center (Networking, Load Balancing, Micro-segmentation)

• vSAN (Design, Performance tuning, Policy-based management)

• Familiarity with VMware automation and orchestration tools (e.g., VCF Automation and Orchestrator).

• FC, iSCSI, NFS

• Enterprise networking concepts: VLAN, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, L2/L3 designs.

• Hybrid Cloud: VMware Cloud on AWS / Azure VMware Solution

• PowerCLI (basic to intermediate)

• REST APIs, Python (basic to intermediate)

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Ansible – basic to intermediate)

Certifications (Preferred):

• VMware Cloud Foundation 9 (VCF) Administrator and Architect.

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in Data Center Virtualization or Cloud.

• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) in Data Center Virtualization or Cloud Or Network.

• VMware Cloud Management and Automation certifications (vRealize Suite).

• Additional certifications in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) or networking (CCNA, CCNP) are a plus.
