Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a VMC Programmer located in Dera Bassi. The VMC Programmer will be responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC/VMC programs for complex sheet metal and machined components, ensuring efficient cycle times and accurate machining. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting tools and fixtures, setting machining parameters, and coordinating with machine operators to validate programs and troubleshoot issues. The role involves monitoring production quality, adjusting programs based on feedback, and collaborating with the production and quality teams to meet delivery timelines and maintain strict quality standards. The VMC Programmer will also maintain documentation of programs and setups and support continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Qualifications
- Strong CNC/VMC programming skills, including experience with G-code and commonly used CAM software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications for sheet metal and machined components.
- Hands-on experience with tooling selection, fixture design/selection, and machining parameter optimization.
- Knowledge of machining processes, materials (especially metals), and production workflows in a fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with quality control practices, basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges), and adherence to manufacturing standards.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively with operators, engineers, and supervisors on-site.
- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Production, or a related field; prior experience in CNC/VMC programming in an industrial setting is highly preferred.
- Willingness to work in shifts as required and maintain safe working practices in a manufacturing environment.
