Job Description

Overview:

As a Visual Arts Teacher , you will be responsible for fostering a creative and engaging learning environment for students of the IB curriculum. You will develop and deliver a visual arts curriculum that supports the IB philosophy and promotes the holistic development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive visual arts curriculum aligned with the IB framework.
  • Develop lesson plans that incorporate inquiry-based learning, focusing on conceptual understanding and student agency.
  • Integrate visual arts with other subjects through interdisciplinary units of inquiry.

Instruction and Facilitation:

  • Provide engaging and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and tools to facilitate artistic expression and creativity.
  • Encourage students to explore different mediums and techniques in visual arts.

Assessment and Reporting:

  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements and prepare reports in line with IB requirements.
  • Conduct student-led conferences and contribute to the development of student portfolios.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with IB practices and visual arts education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school's professional learning community.

Community Engagement:

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Organize and participate in school events, exhibitions, and other community-building activities.
  • Advocate for the visual arts within the school and broader community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Teaching certification or credential in visual arts education.
  • Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
