Overview:
As a Visual Arts Teacher , you will be responsible for fostering a creative and engaging learning environment for students of the IB curriculum. You will develop and deliver a visual arts curriculum that supports the IB philosophy and promotes the holistic development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement a comprehensive visual arts curriculum aligned with the IB framework.
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate inquiry-based learning, focusing on conceptual understanding and student agency.
- Integrate visual arts with other subjects through interdisciplinary units of inquiry.
Instruction and Facilitation:
- Provide engaging and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and tools to facilitate artistic expression and creativity.
- Encourage students to explore different mediums and techniques in visual arts.
Assessment and Reporting:
- Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievements and prepare reports in line with IB requirements.
- Conduct student-led conferences and contribute to the development of student portfolios.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with IB practices and visual arts education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school's professional learning community.
Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Organize and participate in school events, exhibitions, and other community-building activities.
- Advocate for the visual arts within the school and broader community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or credential in visual arts education.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
