Job Description

We are looking for an experienced candidate to take on the role of Video & Social Lead, BBC Tamil. This position is pivotal in strengthening BBC Tamil's digital video output, optimizing our publishing strategy, and driving growth across social platforms, particularly YouTube.

The role can be based in Chennai or Delhi. Candidate will report to the Editor–Digital Video, Indian Languages, and work in close collaboration with Editor, BBC News Tamil.

Key Responsibilities

Video Production & Formats
Lead the planning and delivery of video content, from concept to publishing.
Develop new formats and storytelling approaches tailored for digital audiences.
Ensure content reflects BBC editorial standards and audience needs.

Social Media Publishing & Growth
Oversee video publishing across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
Drive YouTube growth through optimisation, audience engagement, and retention strategies.
Monitor analytics and share insights to improve performance.

Team Management & Rota
Manage a team of video producers and social media specialists.
Oversee rota planning to ensure balanced workloads and consistent coverage.
Provide guidance, and training to strengthen digital skills across the team.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

Storytelling expertise:Can guide reporters and producers on every video, ensuring each story is produced creatively and tailored for digital audiences.
Editorial strength: Demonstrates impartiality and accuracy in all stories, is sensitized to social issues, and has a solid understanding of the basics of Tamil Nadu politics.
Good command of Tamil: Strong language skills to communicate effectively and ensure content resonates with Tamil-speaking audiences.
Digital video experience: Hands-on knowledge of production workflows, from concept to publishing.
Professional experience: More than 10 years of experience in News.
Platform expertise: Deep understanding of YouTube optimization, analytics, and social media growth strategies.
